Now that school busses are back on the road after the summer break, consider leaving yourself a bit of extra time in the mornings and afternoons to get to where you’re going so you can help keep our kids safe. Always be aware of your surroundings, and be especially aware of busses and students as everyone gets used to a new routine.

Remember: you must stop whenever you approach a stopped school bus with its upper alternating red lights flashing, regardless of whether you are behind the bus or approaching it from the front. Wait for the stop sign arm to fold back in before proceeding. Wishing all Carleton Place students a safe and happy new school year! ^st

Be alert on the roads this coming week. Stay safe out there.

There will be more school buses on the road this week, as well as kids walking and biking to school. The children will be excited and focused on new routines and "old" friends. They may not be looking at your car.

Drivers, keep your eyes on the road and sidewalks ahead of you. Be prepared for buses making frequent stops.

Safety tips to keep in mind when doing those back to school photos. 📸

Back-to-school photos are special, but oversharing can put children at risk. Protect your child’s privacy by avoiding:

• School names, logos or signs
• After-school activities or teams
• Personal details like name, age or grade
• Background clues such as bus numbers or street names

Even on private accounts, posts can be saved or shared. Create memories while keeping your child safe.
