The flavors of Kasia’s Gourmet Kitchen, Redneck Bistro, and Mighty Fine Bakehouse, along with the maple kissed beef from dOMe Retreat and the delightful veg samosa chat from Biryani House Arnprior, all contributed greatly to the evening’s ambiance, delighting our guests.

This exciting annual event is a partnership with a local physician and chef to showcase their culinary talents while supporting Arnprior & Area Physician Recruitment.

Embark on a Global Appetizer Adventure!
This year's theme is Around the World. Teams of doctors and culinary partners will create delicious and visually appealing appetizer dishes representing different countries.

The Arnprior & District Family Health Team hosted 10 first-year medical students from Queen’s University and uOttawa to give them a flavour of rural medicine and experience the Arnprior area's many gems.

During each group’s one-week stay, the students shadowed Family Health Team physicians in their family practices and ARH physicians in the Emergency Department. It wasn’t all work and no fun. The students explored the area with lunches at Wes’ Chips and Neat Café, a hike to Eagle’s Nest, an airplane ride over the region, a pontoon cruise on White Lake, and much more.

Jake Miles, a first-year medical student at uOttawa, shared: “When it was time to decide where to complete my rural medicine placement, I chose Arnprior because my aunt and grandmother have lived in the community for many years, and I thought it would be a great place to spend the week."

“Through shadowing a family physician, I benefited from observing their communication style, conflict resolution skills, and how they tailor care plans to the individual patient. I had previously shadowed a family physician in the Ottawa region, but I felt I saw more variability in the patient cases in Arnprior. It was useful to apply some of my first year's learning, and I feel very fortunate for the opportunity.”
