The inception of CT Physiotherapy in Ashern can accurately be described in one word: random!
In Winter 2016 a local Ashern-ite and friend was telling Caitlin about his low back pain and the accessibility issues of physiotherapy for the surrounding area. He was able to get to a clinic after driving for more than an hour, and had all of the magic of his treatment unravel on the way back home.
Caitlin learned about an opportunity to rent a room in a local business on Main Street in Ashern. With nothing to lose, she jumped in with both feet and what she likes to call ‘a crumpled paper napkin business plan’. Not really knowing what to expect, she felt at ease knowing no matter how things would turn out she would take away a valuable life learning experience.
It’s important to note that Caitlin was born and raised in Winnipeg and was working full time when she decided to start driving up to Ashern on Saturdays. You can imagine the eyebrows that were raised, along with lots of comments of ‘What?’, ‘Where?’, ‘Seriously?’, ‘Why?!’
It didn’t take long to see that the rural life was a possibility. The laid back environment, incredibly warm and friendly clientele, and the intangible feeling you get being in the country drew Caitlin in. In December, 2016 her business partner and spouse Jon agreed to take the plunge and purchased a house in Eriksdale, MB.
It was all official in May 2018. Caitlin quit an amazing and secure full time job in Winnipeg, took the plunge to work full time as a physiotherapist in Ashern, and moved to Eriksdale without knowing a single person.
She worked her pa-tootie off and eventually found herself growing out of the room that she was renting. It was time to expand. In October, 2017 Caitlin and Jon purchased a commercial building on Main Street in Ashern, and in March, 2017 CT Physiotherapy had a freshly renovated, independent physiotherapy clinic, where Caitlin continues to work full time.
