Room 13 at Pineview Public School participated in a UCDSB Real-World Learning - Discussion Group Learning experience building planter boxes with the St. Lawrence College Mobile Learning Lab.

Students followed plans and used tools to work together building the planter boxes.

Two of the planter boxes are wheelchair accessible and were donated to Maple View Lodge.

As you can see, MVL resident John has been enjoying time on the patio using the planters which have various herbs planted such as chives and parsley.

We are grateful for intergenerational programming with Pineview Public School and to be part of this incredible community! We look forward to welcoming back students of Pineview Public School in September.

📣Fundraising Update!

DOUBLE VISION - G. Tackaberry & Family Home receives $1,000 donations x 2!
It is the same generous wonderful group of volunteers from the Mallory Coach House Museum AND the 1000 Islands River Heritage Society who generously gave a total of $2,000 ($1,000 each) in support of the G. Tackaberry and Family Home in Athens.

GIRL POWER- Another $1,000 for the G. Tackaberry & Family Home from the Kingston & Area, Leeds & Grenville Women's Institutes.
Representatives from the (2) Women's Institutes in Kingston & Leeds & Grenville were on hand in Mallorytown to present Fundraising Committee members of the G. Tackaberry & Family Home with a $1000 cheque.

📣 DID YOU KNOW we are a Best Practice Spotlight organization with the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario ?

Our Falls Quality Committee has challenged MVL staff to “FALL FREE FRIDAYS” with a full month of challenges! With each challenge you participate in, your name will be entered into a draw for some fun prizes! All participants will get treats 🍦 🍬 🍭

Week 1- Room mock up, find as many fall hazards as you can!

Week 2- Scavenger hunt, find the fall prevention intervention items!

Week 3- Fall Prevention Word search

Week 4- Falls Knowledge Quiz

Happy Canada Day! 🍓 🇨🇦

🇨🇦🍓The Recreation Department will be hosting a Canada Day celebration on July 1st. Residents will be enjoying local, fresh strawberries with cake and whip cream (of course).

🇨🇦 🍓We encourage families and friends of residents to join in on the Canada Day fun!
