Today, April 16th is Advanced Care Planning Day.

No one else can truly communicate for you when it comes to your health and personal care if you don’t have an advance care plan that is documented and shared.

Waiting too long to have these conversations, or not sharing your preferences, could leave important decisions in the hands of others who may not fully understand what matters most to you.

This ACP Day 2026, take the opportunity to plan and share your wishes, take charge of your future care, and ease the burden on those close to you who might otherwise face difficult decisions on your behalf.

People can get HPV from having sexual contact of any kind with another person.

There are more than 100 types of HPV and they can cause changes to the cells of the cervix. With some types of HPV, these cell changes can turn into cervical cancer over time if they are not treated.

The cervical screening test checks for types of HPV that can sometimes cause cervical cancer.

In 2025, Ontario replaced the traditional Pap test with a new cervical screening test that checks for certain strains of HPV that can lead to cervical cancer. With this change, the initiative received a new name!
