The Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA) will be hosting its first Community Conversation this Saturday, August 16, 5:30-8:30 PM. This conversation will be with the Youth Group, ages 16-24 and will be held at the Newmarket Community Centre & Lion’s Hall on Duncan Drive in downtown Newmarket.

If you are a black youth (16-24) living in York Region, please plan to join the conversation. To register, visit: naccacommunity.ca/black-community-consultation. For youth in need of transportation to the event, we can help!

Addiction Services Central Ontario is most grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for awarding us with a Capital Grant that will upgrade the main office doors to be fully accessible, automatic doors, creating a more inclusive and welcoming space for everyone. The Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association (NACCA) just announced a powerful new initiative for Black wellness in York Region. The NACCA is leading Community Conversations on Black Mental Health & Addictions in partnership with Addiction Services Central Ontario (ASCO) and funded by Ontario Health.

📣 This August and September, we are inviting Black youth, adults, caregivers, health professionals, service providers and those with lived, living or shared experience to speak, be heard and help shape the future of mental health and addictions support in York Region.

This is about community-led transformation, not just dialogue.

Addiction Services Central Ontario (ASCO) is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Addictions & Mental Health Counsellor 2 for a new program focused on Black Mental Health & Addiction support. This position will focus on initiatives to support culturally sensitive care for Black families, youth, & children. The successful candidate will use their own lived experience of Black racism to support ASCO clients.
