Did a VO₂ max test today with and it was such a cool experience!

VO₂ max is an incredibly valuable tool for understanding your fitness, and it becomes even more powerful when combined with factors including strength, movement efficiency, and energy system utilization.

I got some great data on how my body uses fat and carbs at different intensities and where I switch from aerobic to anaerobic metabolism. The test gave me other valuable insights that I’ll definitely be applying to my training moving forward 🏃‍♀️

🔥OUR HYROX PREP SERIES BEGINS🔥

As some of you may know, I’ve partnered up with my incredible friend, athlete and coach .27 to host a Hyrox Prep Series at Orangetheory Fitness in Newmarket.

These sessions are for anyone chasing their first HYROX finish or looking to shave minutes off their previous time. They are designed to help you build your foundation, sharpen your skills, and feel CONFIDENT on race day.

In our prep series, we’ll break down each station one at a time, focusing on technique, efficiency, pacing, and fuelling. It’s important to build a strong base and make sure all your movement patterns are optimal!

And you’ll be coached by two coaches who live and breathe this sport!! Together, we bring a combined background in coaching, education, and years of experience helping others unlock their potential ✨

👯‍♀️ Meet Your Coaches

Amanda:
HYROX Coach, Orangetheory Coach, CSEP High Performance Coach and Certified Nutrition Coach. A lifelong athlete & runner with multiple 5K race wins, and 2nd place podium finisher (age group) at HYROX Toronto 2024. Brings years of performance experience to help you train smart and race strong.

Steph:
Level 1 HYROX Coach, Certified Personal Trainer & Sports Nutrition Coach. Never liked running or fitness until her 30s — now a 4x HYROX and marathon finisher. Passionate about helping others realize it’s never too late to become an athlete and do things you never thought were possible.

A solid nutrition plan for performance will be much more nuanced than solely focusing on hitting a protein target or eating clean. Carbs are more important than many give them credit for! 🥖 🥔 🍚 🍌

Even if you are just lifting weights and running recreationally, you are still a recreational ATHLETE and probably want to fuel properly 😉
