WHY an annual preventive care exam is sooo important for your pet, WHAT the veterinarian is looking at and WHY you should come see us here at Bayview Wellington Veterinary Clinic π§ββοΈ
A typical preventive care exam is broken down into 3οΈβ£ parts
1) The physical exam: During your pet's annual preventive care exam the vet is looking for changes in your pet's weight, eyes π, ears, skin, oral health π¦·, joints etc which may indicate signs of illness.
2) Diagnostic screening tests are typically recommended: such as blood, stool π© and urine. These tests and their subsequent results help us to detect disease processes early (sometimes even before symptoms arise), and help us manage and track your pet's overall health. π©Ί
3) Follow up recommendations: Based upon the physical exam findings, subsequent lab results and the current season, our veterinarian will make their treatment recommendations for your SPECIFIC pet and their lifestyle. πββ¬π
This may include a discussion regarding important immunizations π, deworming meds π, flea/tick and heartworm preventions. π¦
As you can appreciate all these steps take time, but here at Bayview Wellington Veterinary Clinic we are delighted to offer 30-60 minute appointments with each of our dedicated veterinarians to make sure your pet is provided the best care available for all of their individual needs π₯°
