You know...I'm pretty good at a few things BUT I struggle remembering and lose track of landmark dates/ anniversaries/ birthdays etc.
But slowly a significant date re-emerged in my consciousness...today is April 16...
Happy 19th birthday to Individual Performance!!
Yes, 19 years ago today was the official opening of the first location. As you can see i had access to the building a little early - so my daughters technically had the first workouts at iP! :)
Thank you to my family and their support - they have sacrificed a lot for this place to exist. It's their place too!
I would be remiss to not thank Doreen Bonnell for 19 years of hard labor and putting up with me! And many thanks to you, my clients, without you there would not be an 'Individual Performance'.
It goes by very quickly - such a cliche but so true! It's an honor to be a part of your lives! For some of you I remember hearing about the challenges of parenting, choosing a high school or university for your son or daughter. Now I am hearing stories of your grandkids in school, activities etc! Career changes that have led to other opportunities and now to retirement, health challenges that have been met and overcome. Obviously, I won't mention ALL the things i have heard - those that are locked in the vault will remain forever!!
We may need to do more exercising during the sessions though!! Or maybe i will transition to Life Coach...
Many of you have been a great source of inspiration, advice and resource given your own individual areas of expertise. I'm eternally grateful.
As my career has morphed from kinesiologist to personal trainer to high performance coach, it feels like those experiences have blended in to a 'Health and Wellness Coach'. I have come to realize that it's not all about how much more you can lift, how much faster you run but rather how can we avoid/manage injuries, stay fit, remain active and do the stuff we want to do for as long as possible! The 'performance' goals may have changed but it doesn't make them less important - and they still need to be INDIVIDUALIZED!
I am glad we are 'Actively Aging ' together!
Sincerely
Dave
