Team re-introductions continue โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ Say hello to Nicole!

Nicole has been part of the Bijoyโ€™s team on Saturdays throughout the school year while pursuing her degree in Athletic Therapy, and weโ€™re so excited to welcome her back for the summer!

She graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Human Kinetics and is currently halfway through completing her Athletic Therapy degree. Nicole is passionate about helping people stay active for life, achieve their goals, improve performance in their sport, and get back to doing what they love.

Back pain is something we see all the time - especially with long hours sitting, stress, workouts, or just everyday life! When the spine stops moving well, the body tends to feel tight, achy, and restricted.

Heres a movement you can try at home for some spinal extension and mobility โœจ
- Start on your hands and knees
- Inhale as you drop the belly and lift the chest and tailbone ๐Ÿ„
- Exhale as you round through the spine and tuck the chin ๐Ÿˆ
- Move slowly with your breath for a couple of rounds

This simple movement helps improve spinal mobility, reduce stiffness, encourage better posture, and release tension through the back and neck! ๐Ÿ™Œ

First up is Maclean, who is joining us for her summer co-op while completing her Masterโ€™s of Kinesiology at Western!

Maclean is passionate about incorporating clinical Pilates into rehabilitation to help people move better and stay active for life. She also may or may not be powered by Dr. Pepper ๐Ÿฅคโœจ She recently completed her very first half marathon and hopes to run many more in the future!

Weโ€™re so excited to have her as part of the Bijoyโ€™s team this summer ๐ŸŒฟ

Tight hamstrings are very common. They can contribute to stiffness in the low back and hips, limit mobility, and make everyday movement feel less smooth.

A simple movement you can do at home: โœจ
- Stand tall with hands reaching up overhead
- Slowly roll down one vertebra at a time
- Let your head and arms relax towards the floor
- Gently reach toward your toes until you feel a stretch along the back of the legs
- Take a few deep breaths, then slowly roll back up

Regular hamstring stretching can improve flexibility, posture, hip mobility, circulation, and overall movement quality - plus it just feels good after a long day! ๐Ÿ™Œ
