❣️FOSTER PUPS THROWBACK❣️
In the fall of 2022, Jason and I went to help out a local rescue by taking photos of their adoptable animals. We didn't plan on becoming foster pawrents that day, but these two gems had other plans 💎
Sapphire (black) and Jasper (black + white) stole our hearts! We put a lot of love into these pups and worked hard to personally ensure that they went to the very best homes. In the last two photos you can see them all grown up now 🥹
Fostering a dog can save lives in several powerful ways:
🐶 Makes space in our shelters
Our shelters are so overcrowded. When you foster, you free up a kennel, allowing another dog to be rescued instead of euthanized due to lack of space (and yes, this happens right here in Ontario).
💕 Gives them a safe place to heal
Many dogs come from tough situations with neglect, abandonment or ab*se. A foster home offers them a safe, calm space to decompress emotionally and physically.
🐾 Improves their adoptability
Foster homes can help dogs learn basic manners, socialization and routines. This makes them more appealing to potential adopters and increases their chances of finding a furever home.
🥰 Provides one-on-one attention
In a home setting, a dog can receive individual care tailored to their needs. Whether that's medical treatment, behavioural support or simply love.
💭 Helps the rescue learn more about the dog
Foster parents can share valuable info about a dog’s personality - their likes, dislikes and quirks - making it easier to match them with the right family.
💘 You give them a lifeline/ a voice
Sometimes, all a dog needs is for someone to give them a chance and to believe in them when no one else has.
Fostering truly does save lives. If you've been thinking about opening up your home to an animal in need.. this is your sign!
