Have you been told that you have arthritis and don’t know how to manage it?
Osteoarthritis (OA), also known as Degenerative Joint Disease (DJD), is a common condition affecting many patients. Typically seen in weight bearing joints of the body, such as knees, hips or low back, it can also be found in other areas of the body, such as fingers, hands and neck.
Osteoarthritis can be caused by many different factors, including trauma to the affected joint(s), or general wear & tear/overuse of a joint(s) over time.
Commonly (but not exclusively) with osteoarthritis, there is stiffness/deep achy pain affecting the joints, specifically first thing in the morning, with prolonged rest throughout the day, or after excessive amounts of activity.
Chiropractic care cannot reverse osteoarthritis. However, chiropractic care can help reduce the symptoms of osteoarthritis to help get you back to performing your activities of daily living. Chiropractic care to help with osteoarthritis can include exercise therapy, modalities (Therapeutic Ultrasound/Interferential Current), acupuncture, mobilizations and soft tissue therapy.
