We at PhysioNorth are proud to be part of a community that cares deeply for its members, providing access to essential services for everyone, regardless of income or age. As one of the local bus stop locations, we see every day just how important affordable, reliable transportation is for our patients—many of whom rely on the BCT bus service to make it to their healthcare appointments.
However, we were heartbroken to hear that this invaluable transit service, which many of our low-income and elderly patients depend on, is at risk of losing its county funding. These rides aren’t just transportation; they are lifelines for those in need, connecting individuals with essential resources like healthcare, food, and shelter. Losing this funding would mean putting our most vulnerable residents at risk of isolation and unmet healthcare needs.
Here’s how you can help: NHCS has posted an update on the situation, We urge you to take a few minutes to read their post, complete the survey, and add your voice in support of this vital service.

UPDATE: The motion passed today, November 13th, with all of the Committee in favour. The recommendations go through the vote with all Hastings County Mayors on November 28th.
We are very sad to announce that after over 40 years, Experience Summer Camp will not be operating next summer. On Wednesday, November 13th, Hastings County will recommend to the Community and Human Services Committee to not fund Experience Summer Camp, the Community Cupboard and BCT.
This free day camp that runs with support of the Town of Bancroft, United Way HPE, NHCIA, our Algonquin Inòdewiziwin team, and the OPP, will not be able to operate without the support of this funding. This camp employs approximately 10 summer students each year and sees 250 children in North Hastings have access to a week of free recreational activities with violence prevention, prosocial activities, free breakfast and a weekly hot lunch. The neon shirts have become a part of the landscape in the summer at Millennium Park with children’s smiling faces being able to connect with new and old friends. Parents received free care in a reliable and safe environment when the costs of basic needs continue to rise to a point where families cannot afford safe care for their children and our licensed programs are full. For more information on the proposed cuts and where the funds are being re-directed, you can view at this link.
