NEW CAG CPG on high risk published in Gastroenterology

Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer in Canada and the US. In 2017 in Canada there were nearly 27,000 new cases and nearly 10,000 deaths. This 3 year project was co led by Professor Des Leddin at Dalhousie University and Professor David Lieberman in Oregon. The analysis revealed that individuals with an affected family member are at twice the risk of developing colon cancer. Individuals with certain types, but not all types, of pre-cancerous growths are also at increased risk.
