This is the other major change coming to this page. Last spring I was diagnosed with diabetes, the last 5 months as been a whirlwind. I truly believe you can incorporate intuitive eating with diabetes, it just has to be done more carefully and in a specific way

Does trying to start eating intuitively feel like yet another mountain you are too tired to climb?

I get it everyone on instagram makes it look easy, but here’s the thing, intuitive eating doesn’t need to take up your whole day. I fact there are some strategies we can apply to make your whole week even easier than it is now.

This is the first change coming to this page. We are going to be focusing on simplifying intuitive eating to make it work for the everyday person, busy moms, college students, people who work long days etc. Intuitive eating should be attainable by everyone.

Let’s talk about mental health for a second and where I’ve been.
Right now the world says you have to do it all. Work full time. Have and take care of your kids. Find time to get some movement in, start your own business etc.

Media is ripe with celebrities telling you that you can have it all, everyone gets the same 24 hours right?

Im here to talk to you about capacity. A celebrity with their own person chefs and nanny’s may have more capacity than a working mom with young kids. A young childless person may have more capacity than someone dealing with a deep depressive episode.

The latter one there has been me these past few months. I’ve always struggled with my mental health but the last few months have been rough on me. I have felt guilt that I’ve been away from this page. But I’m remembering my capacity and being kind to myself. Which is what I encourage you all to do on your intuitive eating journeys.

So whenever you are feeling guilt that you can’t “do it all” remember kindness and your own capacities

A lot of people think intuitive eating is just eating what you want and sitting in the couch all day.

It is simply not true- principle 9 is all about finding joyful movement. Movement does not need to be vigorous exercise, it can be going for hikes, going on bike rides around your neighbourhood, dancing with your kids, whatever brings you joy *counts* as exercise.

However we have to make sure food is not the only way you can comfort yourself. This principle is about introducing self care methods. It is also a difficult principle because it means sitting with your emotions

Today is about feeling your fullness. Often times people with a history of disordered eating cannot feel their hunger and fullness cues.
In order to get them back your body needs to trust that you will feed it. I suggest eating food every 3-4 hours and eating trying to eat mindfully using a hunger scale to work on getting those cues back
