Wouldn’t it be nice…(2)
Every time I see this picture, it puts me at ease, but I can only look at it for so long, then I must get back to my day and deal with the stress associated with it.
As promised in my previous post with the same picture, I would like to offer you a way to alleviate stress levels more effectively and for longer periods of time.
So, lets focus on how to focus more powerfully and for longer periods of time
Masters of focus always use breathing to get to, and stay in, a focused place for one very simple reason
Breathing is the most important thing you will ever do in your life because without it, you will cease to exist within 3 minutes
Breath is life, and life is centered around breathing. Therefore, when you focus on your breathing it brings you into the present moment
While in this place of “just being” you can think about what makes you feel good inside for longer periods of time.
There is a breathing technique to enhance your focus called the “breath of calmness” Here’s how it goes
Get into a comfortable sitting position, feet on the ground and hands on your lap
1) Take a deep, slow breath in through the nose, hold for a moment, then exhale fully through the mouth
2) Take a second breath and hold for 2 seconds, then exhale fully
3) Take a third and final breath, hold for 10 seconds, then exhale fully
Do this several times until you feel yourself relaxing to the point where all you think about is following your breathing
All other thoughts will dissipate leaving you in a place of inner peace and calmness
This is called “being in the present moment”, and from here you can focus on the things you wish to bring into your life, like better health and so on…
Try this technique for 30 days and see how you feel
Please let me know if this worked for you
My third and final post will go into more detail on what to do once you perfect this technique to use your newfound focus to create better habits that will result in a healthier body and mind
