Getting away, ending this hijacking - sometimes we call it a breakup...takes as long as it takes.

Because the deception of any sociopath is not something we could imagine exists...

It can last for many years. Because we're wired to believe and trust and try...

It can last for many years. Because we're under their spell...

It can last for many years. Because we're in confusion and trauma... it can last for many years.

-- Or for two weeks.

The length of time in one of these nightmares depends on the depth of the "hook". It depends on our lives, our beliefs, and our knowledge at the time they approach us.

It depends on many things. It takes as long as it takes to escape from the crime of deception and fraud.

It has nothing to do with them being "overt", "covert", or whatever...It has to do with them being pathologically narcissistic: a parasitic predator...

And you being a normal gorgeous human being.

- It takes as long as it takes.

This whole journey has been so interesting....you know, if it hadn't had been the most traumatizing experience of my 40 some years.
I learned so much. About myself. About the legal system. And about victim shaming.
It AMAZED me that people close to me thought it was ok to try to silence me. "My God, don't tell anyone what happened to you. What will they think of you??" Or "just get over it".
So I didn't talk about it.
Until I saw my story in the Toronto Star. An article that outlined the last night of a nightmare. The night when my nightmare became reality.
That was the day.
That was the day I knew I had every right to share my story. S**t, the newspaper could. Why couldn't I??
This has brought me to a place where I am ready to share all of it with you.
Thank you for letting me have this space and more importantly, thank you for sharing your truth as well. ❤
