When we go for Medical Imaging (xray, ultrasound, CT scan, MRI), we are often told that someone will follow up with us with the results if needed, and that no news is good news.
But sometimes "no news" is exactly that: no news.
For various reasons, sometimes your doctor may not have even received your results/report - and wouldn't know that it is missing.
Unfortunately I've seen this with reports for both my patients, and also myself as a patient.
My Recommendations:
Step 1️⃣ After you have a scan completed, inquire with the tech performing the scan, how long before you could expect for the final report to be sent to the health provider who ordered the scan.
Step 2️⃣ After that time frame, if you haven't received a message from that health provider about those results, follow-up with their office to inquire if they have received it.
Step 3️⃣
A - Review results - this may require scheduling an appointment with the health care provider to discuss them
B - If there is no report/result, then: Discuss a plan with health care providers office for obtaining results. This may include waiting a little longer for results, the office following up with the Imaging centre, or yourself following up with the Imaging centre.
💥Remember: No news is exactly that - no news!
