Why is everyone having such a strong reaction to the West, Ciara, and Amanda dynamic on Summer House?
Because it’s not just reality TV.
It’s recognition.

For some people, Ciara represents what it feels like to finally move slower… to hold your boundaries… and to not abandon yourself just because something could be good.

For others, West brings up the experience of being on the receiving end of that — where things feel easy and natural, but you start to realize you and the other person aren’t moving at the same emotional pace.

And Amanda?

She taps into something even deeper — the part of us that watches a situation and feels like we know how it’s going to end… because we’ve been there before.

So we react.
We project.
We pick sides.

Not because we’re invested in strangers —
but because we’re remembering versions of ourselves.

✨ The time you felt unsure but stayed anyway
✨ The time you wanted more clarity but didn’t ask for it
✨ The time you watched someone else’s relationship and saw your own story in it

This kind of dynamic activates something real:
– attachment styles
– emotional safety vs. chemistry
– pacing, boundaries, and fear of getting hurt

That’s why it feels bigger than it “should.”

It’s not just drama.

It’s a mirror.

BED ROTTING: A DEEP DIVE 🛌
We’re not lazy.
We’re overwhelmed.
In a world that feels increasingly heavy — constant news cycles, rising costs, political tension, social comparison, and the pressure to always be “on” — sometimes the nervous system simply says enough.
So we stay in bed.
Sometimes that’s rest.
Sometimes it’s avoidance.
And sometimes it’s the only place our body feels safe enough to pause.
The conversation shouldn’t be about guilt or shame.
It should be about awareness.
Are we restoring our energy so we can re-engage with life?
Or are we withdrawing because everything feels too much to face?
Both experiences are human.
Understanding the difference helps us move from judgment to curiosity — and from simply surviving to slowly rebuilding the capacity to engage again.
In today’s world, taking care of your nervous system isn’t laziness.
It’s survival.
And sometimes the first step back into life starts with simply asking yourself:
What do I need right now?

Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets.

It’s for thought patterns.
For relationships that feel one-sided.
For habits that quietly drain you.
For expectations you’ve outgrown.

We declutter our homes without hesitation — but we carry mental and emotional clutter for years.

This is your reminder that you’re allowed to:
• Reevaluate what you’re tolerating
• Unfollow what triggers comparison
• Say no without overexplaining
• Revisit boundaries that slipped over winter
• Let go of roles you took on just to survive

Not everything that helped you get through a hard season needs to come with you into the next one.

Growth sometimes looks like release.
Like softer self-talk.
Like protecting your energy.
Like choosing peace over proving.

What would it look like to clear space in your mind the same way you clear space in your home?

New season. New capacity. New boundaries. 🤍

✨ Meet Our New Team Member – Erica Pereira, Registered Social Worker (Barrie)!
Erica brings a unique balance to therapy: deep compassion with practical direction. Clients often say they feel truly understood in her sessions — but also leave with clear tools, insight, and real progress.
She supports clients navigating:
• Anxiety
• Anger management
• Self-esteem & confidence
• Grief & life transitions
• ADHD
• Caregiving stress & critical illness
• Post-accident driving anxiety
• Postpartum emotional challenges
Many of Erica’s clients appear high-functioning on the outside while privately struggling with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or harsh self-criticism. Erica helps clients reconnect with their identity, build boundaries, and develop a stronger sense of self-worth.
Her approach blends evidence-based strategies with deep emotional work — because real healing requires both structure and safety.
You don’t have to perform strength here.
You deserve support that feels steady, compassionate, and real.

Today we had the honour of working with Markham Fire and Wing Tse to provide a mental health resource sheet designed specifically for their firefighters. It has been an amazing passion project of mine to give back to the Markham Fire Department and I am so proud of what our VMH team and student Jennifer Bingley have created.

Firefighters carry a tremendous amount, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. The calls do not simply end when the truck returns to the station. Over time, repeated exposure to high stress and traumatic events can impact sleep, stress regulation, and overall wellbeing.

This resource helps break down something many first responders already know but rarely talk about openly. The wear and tear of the job and how to begin building trust with a therapist who understands the realities of the work.

Inside the guide we explore
🔥 How repeated calls impact the brain
🔥 Signs your nervous system may be under strain
🔥 Why shift work makes recovery harder
🔥 How to find the right therapist for you

Just like gear protects the body, mental health support protects the mind.

Therapy is not weakness.
It is maintenance.

Thank you to the incredible team at Markham Fire for trusting Vault Mental Health to contribute to the wellbeing of those who protect our communities every day.

Your work matters.
Your mental health does too.

If you are a first responder and would like to see something like this at your workplace, please reach out to us. We would love to support.

As we bring Social Work Week to a close on International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to recognize all of the incredible social workers I’ve recently met on our Costa Rica retreat, the amazing women on our team, and the fellow community practices who continue to show up and use their voices to promote collaboration over competition - that is what the magic of being a woman is all about.🤍

This work is deeply important to the health of our communities. I am so grateful for those who use their voice to uplift other women, support fellow small business owners, and advocate for clients with compassion, integrity, and courage.

In a time that feels heavy for so many, the work of social workers remains a powerful force for healing, connection, and change. The work and existence of women who share this space with us and uplift each other does not go unnoticed. Thank you to those who continue to use their voice to speak for those who may feel unheard and to create safe spaces and small pockets of hope for those seeking support.

Vault Mental Health has been a beacon of hope for many, built on the foundation of wanting to make a difference. Here’s to many more years of using our voices and continuing to be a pillar in the community for those seeking a safe place for mental health support.
Big hug to everyone doing
this meaningful work, and even more so today- the women with the endless empathy and love that I get to work with, for and alongside. 🤎🌸
