📣 Big news for this week! 🎉

This Thursday, April 16th, I’ll be speaking at the MROO (Municipal Retirees Organization Ontario) Zone 9 Meeting.

I’ll be delivering my keynote “Motion is Lotion: Movement is the Key to Aging Well,” and I’m looking forward to connecting with members and sharing practical tools for staying strong, confident, and mobile as we age.

✨ Stories like Janice’s are why I do what I do. 💛

When she arrived, walking wasn’t possible. Two years later, she’s moving again — with a limp, with some pain, but with independence and confidence she fought hard to regain.

Her resilience is the real hero here. I’m grateful to walk alongside clients who show up, try again, and trust the process.

If you’re working through mobility challenges, chronic pain, or recovery, know that progress is possible — and support is right here. 🚶‍♀️

If you’re working through your own movement journey, let’s talk about what support could look like for you. Connect with me here.

How is your body helping you enjoy the holiday?

Here’s to a colourful, connection‑filled Easter and a spring season that supports all the things you love to do. 💜

💧THE INNISFIL YMCA WARM POOL IS OPEN - AND IT’S FANTASTIC!

Great news for our community: the YMCA pool is officially open, warm, and feeling amazing. Aquatic movement is one of the most joint‑friendly ways to build strength, mobility, and confidence—especially for anyone managing OA, stiffness, or early post‑surgical recovery.

A few simple ways to use the pool (lap or leisure) this spring:

• Water walking for hip and knee mobility
• Gentle resistance work using the natural drag of water
• Balance practice with reduced fall risk
• Low‑impact cardio that still challenges your muscles

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to return to the water, this is it!

🪻SPRING Q & A

Q: Why does activity sometimes make your joints feel more stiff in the spring?

A: Seasonal shifts can influence how tissues behave. As temperatures rise and humidity changes, connective tissues—like tendons, ligaments, and joint capsules—can feel a little “sleepy” after winter. When you suddenly increase activity, those tissues need time to adapt to new loads and ranges of motion.

🌱 How to ease the transition into spring movement

A few simple habits can help reduce early-season stiffness:

• Gentle warm-ups before outdoor activity
• Gradual increases in distance or pace
• Light strength work for hips, knees, and ankles
• Mobility routines that restore joint glide and tissue elasticity.

These strategies help your body adapt more smoothly to the return of outdoor activity.

If your body’s sending you mixed messages this spring, let’s sort them out together. A personalized movement check‑in can make all the difference.

💻 Inside Kinesiology: Behind the Scenes

Upgrading computer setup—including dual monitors and updated accounting software—has already made a noticeable difference in workflow speed and organization.

Faster processing, streamlined invoicing, and smoother receipt management mean less duplicate work and fewer delays. It’s also helping to move closer to a fully paperless system.

These behind‑the‑scenes improvements keep everything running efficiently so client care stays front and centre.

💪 Inside Kinesiology 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

Recovery after surgery is rarely linear. This scenario reflects the kind of work that happens behind the scenes in kinesiology—creating structured, progressive movement plans, and adjusting pace based on how the body responds.

Every recovery journey is unique; guiding movement with intention, helping to rebuild confidence step by step, and ensuring clients have the right support at the right time is one of the most meaningful parts of this work.

❄️ Don't let winter put the freeze on movement! ❄️

Winter can make hips and knees feel stiff, but a few simple movement habits can keep your joints healthy all season.

Here are five winter-friendly ways to keep your joints happy:

• Add a gentle warm-up before heading outside
• Sprinkle in ‘movement snacks’ throughout your day
• Use heat for stiffness, movement for relief
• Prioritize strength training to protect joints from strain
• Stay hydrated to reduce joint stiffness

Your body loves consistency, not intensity. A little movement, often, is the magic!
