S*x after baby is complicated. And not just because it hurts.

There’s the six week clearance that doesn’t actually mean you’re ready.
The body that doesn’t feel like yours anymore.
The nervous system that’s been in survival mode since the moment you gave birth.
The mental load, the touched out, the wanting to want it but having nothing left.
All of it is real. All of it makes sense. And none of it means something is wrong with you.

This is part 1 of a 6-part series on the real reasons s*x hurts after baby and what actually helps.
Save this one.
And share with new mom who needs it.

The next 5 are going to change how you think about this.

Nobody talks about p**p. But it’s one of the first things I ask about in every assessment.

Bunny pellets. Straining daily. Wiping forever. Urgent bowel urgency with no warning. Skinny p**ps. Hemorrhoids that keep returning.

These are signals. Not TMI. Signals.

Chronic straining puts pressure through your pelvic floor every single day. That affects your bladder, your prolapse risk, your pain.

It’s all connected.

What actually helps:

Feet on a stool. Your body is designed to squat, not sit. A Squatty Potty or even a step stool changes the angle and makes elimination easier.

Don’t push. Let your breath do the work. Exhale and relax on the way out. Bearing down and holding your breath is the opposite of helpful.

Respond to the urge. Don’t delay it and don’t force it. When the signal comes, go.

Hydration and fibre together. Fibre without water makes constipation worse. You need both.

Move your body. Even a 10 minute walk stimulates your gut. It’s not glamorous but it works.

Stress is a bowel issue. Your gut and nervous system are in constant conversation. If you’re chronically stressed, your digestion will show it.
If this list made you nod along, pelvic floor physio is worth it.

We don’t talk about p**p enough. And it might be why your bladder leaks haven’t improved.

Your bowel and bladder share real estate down there. When one is struggling, the other usually knows about it.

Hard, lumpy p**ps. Bunny pellets. Feeling like you never fully emptied. Straining every single time. These aren’t just inconvenient. They’re signals your system needs support.

And here’s the part most people miss: if constipation is loading your pelvic floor with extra pressure day after day, all the Kegels in the world won’t fix your leaks.

The pelvic floor is part of a system. Bowel habits, breath, posture, stress, and movement all feed into how it functions.

Swipe for the signs to watch for, tips that actually help, and what your toilet habits might be doing to your symptoms.

💛 Save this one. Your future self will thank you.

What healthy bowel movements should look like:

💩 Smooth + formed (mostly in one piece)
⏱️ Easy to pass —no straining
📅 Daily is ideal (but 1–3×/day is still normal)
🚫 You can p**p daily and still be constipated
☕ You shouldn’t need coffee to make things happen
🧻 Shouldn’t need to wipe 10×
⌛ Under 5 minutes on the toilet
😌 You should feel empty + relieved after
🔥 Pain is not normal

👉 Aim for a Bristol Stool Chart Type 3–4 (Google it if you’ve never seen it life changing!)

Want smoother, stress-free p**ps? Try this:
🌬️ Diaphragmatic breathing
🪑 Stool under your feet (hello, squatty potty)
🧠 Slow down & stop clenching through life (calling all perfectionists + “gotta hold it all together” girlies)

And for the love of your pelvic floor… UNCLENCH YOUR BU****LE

If you want happier, easier p**ps, pelvic floor physio can help.

Let’s normalize talking about p**p, share this with a friend! 💩🧻✨

Your body is not a problem to solve.

The fitness industry has spent decades convincing us that a strong core looks a certain way.
Flat. Toned. “Bounced back.”

But your core is not an aesthetic. It’s a system.

And it does not care what size your jeans are.

We have been so conditioned to see our postpartum bodies as something to fix that we forget to ask the real question.

What do I actually want to feel like?
Strong. Capable. In your body without hating it.
That’s the work. And it has nothing to do with your belly looking a certain way.
You’re allowed to take up space. 💛

The 6-week clearance is not a green light. It’s barely a starting line.
One appointment. 5-10 minutes. At the most chaotic, sleep-deprived, overwhelming point of your life. And then you’re sent home with a baby and a whole lot of unasked questions.

Your body just did something enormous. It deserves more than a checkbox.

This is why I do what I do. Postpartum care should be proactive, not reactive. You shouldn’t have to wait until something hurts enough to ask for help.

You deserve someone in your corner who actually looks at the whole picture. Your core. Your pelvic floor. Your body under load. Your nervous system. All of it.
If no one told you that recovery takes longer than 6 weeks and that’s completely normal, I’m telling you now.

And if you’re ready for support that actually meets you where you are, my link is in my bio 🩷

The fitness industry will tell you to “bounce back.” I’m here to tell you that was never the goal. 🙅🏻‍♀️

Your postpartum body isn’t broken, it’s healing. And healing takes more than crunches and cardio. ( it also takes longer tha 6 weeks)

Core Foundations is a physio-led small group program that gives you:

→ Movement that actually supports recovery

→ A community of women doing the same thing

I’ve revamped my postpartum programs

Because not every mom should start in the same place.

💙 Core Foundations
For the mom who feels weak, disconnected, leaking, heavy, or unsure where to begin.
We rebuild breath, core, and pelvic floor properly the stuff your 6-week check didn’t cover.

💪 Strong Foundations
For the mom ready to lift, run, and train hard without symptoms or fear holding her back.
Real strength. Real capacity. Real confidence.

You don’t have to start with Core but it’s encouraged. An assessment helps us decide what’s best for you.

Classes start second week of March.
Spots capped at 6.

This beautiful mama’s words mean so much to me. Supporting her through her first birth prep and then postpartum recovery was an honour.

The best time to prepare your pelvic floor for birth is when your pregnant and the second best time is now 💁🏼‍♀️

Pelvic Health physio isn’t about “tightening,” “strengthening,” or just exercise, it’s about:
🌿 pelvic floor and mind body connection
🌿 calm nervous system + safety in the body
🌿 releasing tension
🌿 preparing tissues
🌿 building confidence
🌿 understanding how your body gives birth

And postpartum isn’t about rushing back into exercise it’s about letting the body heal in a supported way and rebuilding strength from the inside out.

If you’re preparing for labour, healing postpartum, or just curious about your pelvic health , you’re welcome here.

💌 Book through the link in my bio.
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
