We know shame is a big one. It makes us feel awful to the point of wanting to hide from the world and those we love. But, did you know shame can become stronger by our actions or inaction? Or that shame can weaken and we can experience less shame by our actions (depending on what is causing the feelings of shame)? According to Clark (2020) who speaks from a CBT perspective, avoidance, passivity, and behaviour can all increase our feelings of shame and come at a cost to our personal life.
