💡 Myth Buster: Breast forms are hot to wear

Think again. 🤍

For over 20 years, women have been wearing Amoena breast forms designed with temperature-equalizing technology to help keep skin cool and comfortable throughout the day.

In fact, this advanced technology was originally developed by NASA for astronauts. Amoena’s unique Comfort+ works by absorbing excess heat from your skin and releasing it as your body cools down.

💬 It’s next-level comfort, so you can simply go about your day and forget you’re even wearing a form.

to 1991

The year the pink ribbon was born.

Charlotte Haley had a simple idea: a peach-coloured ribbon and a handwritten card urging action on breast cancer prevention funding. Self-Care Magazine and Estée Lauder approached her. She turned them down, wanting it to stay grassroots.
They changed the colour to pink and launched it anyway.

That ribbon has since raised billions and fueled research that saves lives every year.

Sometimes the most powerful movements start with one person, a kitchen table, and a conviction that things need to change. 🎀

Throwback Thursday 🕰️💛
Let’s take a trip back in time to some of the myths women were told after breast surgery ,the ones we’re so glad are gone:
“You must wear a prosthetic.”
In the 1960s and 70s, prosthetics were seen as mandatory. Women were expected to “replace what was lost,” even if they didn’t want to. Choice? Rarely an option.
“Scars should be hidden, and feelings ignored.”
Emotional healing wasn’t part of the conversation. Talking about scars, swelling, or body image was taboo — women often struggled quietly
“All mastectomy bras are stiff and medical-looking.”
Back then, bras were heavy, scratchy, and purely functional. Lace? Style? Comfort? Forget it , it was all about keeping a form in place.
“Comfort means ugly.”
Soft fabrics, breathable designs, and gentle support weren’t standard until decades later. For years, women had to choose between looking “normal” and feeling comfortable.
“Recovery is quick if you follow the rules.”
The idea that “moving on” fast was the goal left many women feeling like their bodies were failing them if healing took time.
Today, we talk openly. We support choice, comfort, and style. And most importantly, we acknowledge the real work it takes to heal : physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Throwback Thursday isn’t just nostalgia, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come, and how much better it can be for the women healing today. 💛

Throwback Thursday 🕰️💛
Healing after breast cancer surgery hasn’t always been talked about openly.
50+ years ago (1960s–1970s): Women often navigated mastectomy recovery in silence. There were no bra specialists, no support groups, and few conversations about the physical or emotional challenges of healing. Many of our mothers and grandmothers went through treatment quietly, carrying both pain and expectations that they “move on” quickly.
1980s–1990s: Awareness started to grow. Support groups emerged, and prosthetics and mastectomy bras became more accessible, but discussions were still limited and often private. Talking about scars, lymphedema, or emotional struggles was considered taboo.
Today: Everything has changed. Women have access to specialized mastectomy boutiques, bra fittings, prosthetics, and peer support. Social media, online communities, and patient advocacy groups mean you’re never alone. We talk openly about scars, swelling, lymphatic health, and body image. Healing is no longer something to endure silently , it’s something to embrace with support, knowledge, and choice.
Throwback Thursday isn’t just about remembering — it’s about appreciating how far we’ve come, and how much better support, understanding, and choice makes the healing journey today. 💛

✨ On This Day in Medical History – January 29 ✨

In 1896, American physician Emile Grubbe performed one of the earliest uses of radiation therapy for breast cancer — a groundbreaking moment that helped shape the future of oncology care.

From those first treatments to the advanced, targeted therapies available today, his work reminds us how far medicine has come in supporting women through cancer. 💛

Today, we honor the pioneers who paved the way for better treatments, better outcomes, and better lives.

Mindful Monday 💛
Once upon a time, women were told what they had to do after breast surgery. “You have to reconstruct.” “You have to wear a prosthetic.” “You have to follow these rules.” 🙄
Now? You get to choose. Your body, your rules. Go flat. Wear a form. Reconstruct. Or don’t. There’s no one-size-fits-all, and honestly, there never should have been.
Choice is power. Choice is confidence. Choice is saying: my journey, my body, my way , take it or leave it.
This Monday, we’re celebrating every woman owning her decision and living it unapologetically. 💛

Throwback Thursday 🕰️
Let’s rewind a bit.
1970s–80s:
Mastectomy bras and breast forms were… functional. Heavy silicone. Thick fabrics. Very “one option fits all.” Comfort and movement weren’t exactly part of the conversation yet.
1990s:
Things started to soften, literally. Lighter materials appeared, but styles were still limited and very medical-looking. Choice was minimal, and most women were told what they should wear.
Early 2000s:
Pocketed bras became more common. Shapes improved. Breast forms began to feel more natural , but they were still often warm, bulky, and not especially body-aware.
Today:
Lightweight forms. Breathable fabrics. Bras that consider scars, swelling, lymphedema, and real movement. And most importantly — real choice. Wear a form, don’t wear one, go flat, mix it up depending on the day.
The biggest evolution isn’t just the products.
It’s the mindset.
From “this is what you need” to “what feels right for you.”
Progress feels pretty good and a lot more comfortable. 💛
