Fresh-caught fish. Yum! I talk a lot about fish oils and omega three fatty acids in my line of work.

And while this fish was delicious, it came from a freshwater lake in northern (central? Depends on your point of reference!) Ontario.

It wasn’t high in omegas, so I still took my supplement!

Just because you eat fish, doesn’t mean you’re getting your omegas!

Yesterday I had the privilege of sitting on the platform to honour, celebrate and witness the graduation of the 2020, 2021 and 2022 classes from the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine at CCNM. Congratulations to three years of graduates!! I’m so proud of you all and grateful to be a part of your journey.

What are you reading on a Friday?

For me, it's marking a bunch of research papers from my third year Sports Medicine Elective class at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

Confession time...

I haven’t been on my bike lately. I was on a bit of a hiatus. I missed one day and then it spiralled into two weeks. Work was really busy, my energy was a bit low, and I just wasn’t feeling inspired to ride. I’ve still been getting in my run workouts, but... I missed all my bike sessions.

I’m sharing this because I have patients who are so hard on themselves for missing some of their own sessions, whether it’s their rehab exercises or a workout. Some don’t even want to tell me that they haven’t been able to get them in.

Believe me, I get it. It happens. Life can get in the way. But the most important part is to recognize that the slump is there, and find a way to get back on track. Assess the excuses, find some support, and get back in the saddle, so to speak.

The good news is that de-training takes a lol longer than a couple of weeks, though the impacts I felt on my quality of life were more immediate.

So, here I am. Back on my bike. I’m taking it easy because I’m still a bit tired and achy from my vaccine yesterday. But here we go!
