In 1994, Quinn Rehab Services (QRS), a multi-disciplinary physical rehabilitation clinic, opened its doors for business in Barrie. Originally located in the Sunnidale Medical Center with a professional staff of one, QRS has grown substantially as reflected in the number and diversity of staff, services offered and by the size of the clinic’s present day location in the Cedar Pointe Business Park.
QRS was founded by Nancy Quinn, a registered physiotherapist and graduate of Queens University. Her intention when she opened QRS was to create a positive, supportive environment for like-minded rehab professionals who are committed to working respectfully and collaboratively with every person who came through the door. The QRS staff, both professional and administrative, have embraced this business model and vision. With their collective efforts and expertise, QRS has developed a strong and highly respected reputation for patient care and advocacy.
The professional staff have advanced postgraduate training within their designated professions, and many are presently engaged in leadership positions with their respective governing bodies. The professional staff at QRS includes physiotherapists, registered massage therapists, a sports medicine physician and an osteopathic manual practitioner. The physiotherapists are licensed to practice acupuncture and all staff have extensive expertise in the treatment of muscle and joint dysfunction resulting from sport, work, and motor vehicle accident; and long standing disease or acute illness. Unique to QRS is a weekly sports medicine clinic, concussion management and treatment of vestibular dysfunction.
Twenty five years later, Nancy Quinn remains the proud owner of Quinn Rehab Services. A highly experienced sport medicine specialist and veteran of six Paralympic games, Nancy is working on completing a PhD at Western University. Her research interests include disability and sport; and the experience of Canadians living with impairment with the practice of medicine and rehabilitation. Though busy with clinical practice and her Doctoral studies, Nancy and the staff of Quinn Rehab Services, remain passionately committed to the well-being of the people of Simcoe County and advocates for physical activity and recreation opportunities for people of all abilities.
