We’ll be hosting our third *monthly* community event, open to everyone in the Barrie area ☺️ We know how challenging it can be to socialize these days, so join us for some laid back crafting (all with repurposed materials)!

We’ll have two craft options:
🎨 painting canvases
👚 bleach painting (bring your own fabric item from home—ideally one you already have! shirts, pants, backpacks, etc)

And the best part? Your donations help us provide FREE THERAPY to those in need 💖

There are a million ways to support someone who is actively (or passively) suicidal, and while some folks have positive experiences in hospital settings, others (when involuntarily detained) may experience even more intensity of suicidality. This is one reason why we run our Suicidality Support Group, and take an anti-carceral stance towards all care we provide. Higher levels of care are AN option, and there are many other alternatives that can be even more effective at supporting someone in crisis.

Involuntary psychiatric detention has been sold to the public as a compassionate act intended to stop people that are experiencing mental health crises A nationwide Swedish study reveals markedly higher su***de rates following involuntary psychiatric detention.

One of the reasons why harm reduction & acceptance of ALL behaviours (not pushing for abstinence) is a core part of our approach! Substance use is demonized when it’s recreational or street-based and encouraged when it’s medical 😔

Urgent need for winter boots and snow pants.

With cold weather settling in, the individuals we support need warm, durable winter gear.

If you can donate new or gently used adult sizes, please drop them off at the Busby Centre.

The first book of this group therapy series is “Homecoming” by Dr. Thema Bryant, a book that gives you the tools to meaningfully connect with your larger community, even amongst racism, sexism, heartbreak, grief, and trauma. Celeste (she/they) on our team will support all group members in navigating these themes & shared stories with an intent to put knowledge into practice in your own lives.
