Back at it again with the organizing for the disorganized series - KITCHEN EDITION! 🧑🏻🍳
For those dealing with ADHD, the kitchen can feel soo overwhelming!! 🤯 From dirty dishes to cluttered counters, it's a constant battle. To tackle this, focus on making it FUNCTIONAL rather than perfect. Here are some tips to get you started!
🥘Use your kitchen for cooking only.
-Ban all paperwork from the kitchen, get rid of the pile up! There is nothing more distracting than a mixture of papers and dishes cluttering the kitchen. The space will be much less overwhelming and easier to keep organized if you use it only for cooking, not an office space or for crafts.
🏷️ Designate and name areas for each activity.
-Categorize your small spaces! Spices, Tupperware, appliances, cooking knives, cooking utensils, dishes, pots and pans. Each should have a designated area. If not, the clutter becomes too real and we find ourselves in overwhelm trying to find everything we need to make a meal.
🛒 Do not over-shop; buy only those items that are on your shopping list and for which you have imminent plans.
-Commit to a strict grocery list! Us ADHDers tend to be impulsive and this leads to over-shopping and messy cabinets!
🫖 Do not overstock; get rid of old, unused, excess, and novelty cookware, china, and foods.
-Perform a brutal purge!! Make room for the stuff you DO use by getting rid of the things you don’t. You can also donate items that are not versatile or don’t store well.
You got this!! 💪🏼💛
