Home Care Assistance is North America's premier provider of in-home care for seniors
We got into the this business because Domenic experienced the challenges his father had when diagnosed with Cancer while being the Care Giver for Domenic’s mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia. We understands the pressures and stress on the family during these difficult times. Deborah's has cared for her Grandmother, travelling 2 hours to attend to her needs. She was there for her parents during their last breath and provided love, comfort and support to the families. We want to help families elimate the stress and support them with the evoling needs of Older Adults

In honour of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, we’re highlighting five meaningful ways to support someone living with memory loss:
1. Keep routines steady—familiarity brings comfort.
2. Make the home safe and calming with simple cues and clear spaces.
3. Understand the disease and how it affects thinking, emotions, and behaviour.
4. Speak with kindness and clarity, even when words don’t come easily.
5. Care for yourself, too—supporting someone starts with support for you.
At Home Care Assistance, our caregivers provide compassionate Alzheimer’s care that helps families stay connected—through every season.
For many older adults, the end of the holidays doesn’t just mean quieter days—it means a return to loneliness.
Roughly 1 in 3 seniors experiences social isolation, which can increase the risk of depression, cognitive decline, and even heart disease.
But connection doesn’t require big events or crowded calendars. Simple, meaningful moments—like sharing a story, organizing a drawer together, or taking a short walk—can make a powerful difference.
As the holiday season arrives, many of us look forward to gatherings, traditions, and time with the people we love. For some older adults, especially those who live alone, have limited mobility, or feel disconnected, this time of year can highlight loneliness.

Movement isn't just for the gym—it's part of living well at home.
At Home Care Assistance, we know that even small steps have a big impact, so our caregivers integrate movement into your loved one's everyday routines with activities like:
🪴 Watering houseplants
🎶 Dancing to a favourite song
🧹 Light exercise with gentle stretches
📦 Organizing a drawer or shelf
🪑 Walking together to check the mail
It's just one way our Balanced Care Method® stands out in the industry.
Sometimes the small things you notice during a holiday visit—a slower pace, more effort standing up, changes in routine—remind you that your parents are getting older. These moments are a helpful signal that it may be time to start planning for the future.
Here are a few tips to get started:
💠 Start early. Begin the conversation before a crisis.
💠 Ask what matters most. Centre the discussion around their goals and preferences.
💠 Involve family. Bring siblings or trusted relatives into the conversation.
💠 Explore gradual care. A few hours a week can strengthen independence and expand as needs change.
With Home Care Assistance’s flexible levels of support—from part-time help to round-the-clock care—it’s never too early or too late to learn what’s possible.
As we look toward 2026, our approach to care remains grounded in the Balanced Care Method®.
At Home Care Assistance, these pillars guide every care plan and every goal we set for your loved one:

With these pillars at the centre, your loved one’s care is personalized, intentional, and designed for a stronger, healthier year ahead.
