How long does therapy take to “work”?

This journey is rarely a linear process.

There are ups and downs and twists and turns as we navigate the roads of our inner landscape.

We stop along the way to sight see and appreciate things we’ve previously overlooked.

We discover new facets of ourselves and allow ourselves the time and space to explore these new parts.

We backtrack… a lot. Because we need to process our experiences and feelings before looking ahead and moving on.

This journey can feel like a lot. But remember that it is 100% YOUR journey.

There is no timeline or deadline.

And small, subtle shifts are the key to progress that lasts.

Being there for yourself in the hard moments, that’s where real growth happens.

This journey is exciting. It is so worth it. And it’s completely yours. 🤍

Healing our wounds requires more than just self-help books and techniques…it needs a container. The relationship you create with your therapist should be a safe space for you to unpack experiences, challenge your old beliefs, and feel seen and heard.

The right therapist will create a container of safety and support so that you can blossom in your own time. At Words of Hope Counselling, we offer guidance through self-exploration so that life feels lighter, steadier, and easier to move through.

🌸If you’re ready to embark on this journey, the link is in our bio to sign up for a session.

🫶 If you’re in need of community support on this journey, join our free, in-person support group for women. Sessions are held by Tanis Vos, a registered psychotherapist and founder of Words of Hope Counselling. Sign up through the registration form is required before attending - the link is in our bio to sign up.

Have you ever felt this way?

The jealousy (and shame) that creeps in when another woman’s beauty, success, or confidence makes you feel like you’re somehow not enough.

👉🌟Another woman’s light never takes away from yours.

When we reframe our jealousy as information, we reclaim our power. We are shown where our pain points lie, where we need to give ourselves more love.

Your jealousy is showing you where you feel a sense of lack in your life. Maybe the jealousy and critiquing makes you feel better in the moment, but it’s a temporary relief to a much bigger issue.

When we reframe jealousy as information, we expand what’s possible for us.

Because your worth doesn’t change just because someone else seems to have “more” than you.

You are worthy and whole right now as you are, regardless of what anyone else seems to have over you. This is the kind of worth that can’t be altered or taken away from you. Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep—forever. 🤍

If you’re craving a supportive space to show up as you are, join our free support group for women. Meetings are held monthly in Barrie, ON (in-person) and are led by Tanis Vos, an experienced therapist who has run a reputable counselling clinic for over 13 years.

This is a space to be seen, heard, and held as you are (you will never be pressured to speak or share). The link is in the bio to sign up today!

How do we shut down the destructive inner voice for good?

How do we nurture a space within us that is loving, supportive, and safe?

❌It doesn’t happen through fighting our experience (or pretending it’s not happening).

❌It doesn’t happen through more shame, more guilt, and more self abuse.

✅It happens through giving.

Giving love to the parts of ourselves that feel unlovable.

Giving validation to our fears, our insecurities, our wounds, and our experience.

Giving compassion to our suffering.

Giving reassurance to that voice that we will always be there for ourselves, even in our “worst” moments.

When we choose to listen and respond to the voice with love, with kindness, and with compassion, we stretch and expand into a version of ourselves that can hold space for our most “unlovable” parts.

When we choose to listen to the fear behind the voice’s ugly comments, we realize that this part of us is afraid.

This part of us is begging for our love and acceptance.

All parts of you deserve love. 🤍

At Words of Hope Counselling, we create a space for you to show up exactly as you are, without judgement. Your therapist will help you cut through the noise of your inner critic and show you where there’s room for growth and more love in your life.

🫶Let’s move you into deeper union with yourself. Reach out and book a session through the link in our bio.

Connections that enrich our lives don’t just happen. These kinds of bonds aren’t effortless. And that’s not a bad thing.

Real friendship is voluntary. It requires energy and consistent effort over time from both parties.

This is where friendship becomes an intentional choice in our lives.

When we choose to give our energy, to stray out of our comfort zone and make the first move, this is where magic can happen in our lives.

We’re the ones in charge of our lives. And we have the power to make changes, to create the bonds and the community that will deeply enrich our lives.

We’ve all heard the term “people-pleaser”.  To an extreme level, people-pleasing isn’t healthy.

But intentionally choosing to extend our energy, to risk rejection, to give to someone else—this isn’t people-pleasing.

This is connection.

It’s not always convenient or easy. But it’s worth it.

🫶If you’re in need of community, Women Supporting Women is a free, monthly gathering for women. Meetings are held in-person in Barrie, ON. There is absolutely no-pressure to share while you attend. This is a space for you to show up exactly as you are and be held in community.

We need to remind ourselves, and each other, again and again:

Our worth is not conditional.

Our worth is not based on our bodies, our jobs, or how much/how little we give to others.

We are enough.

You are whole and complete, just as you are. 🤍

You don’t have to carry the weight alone.

Mindfulness is an evidence-based practice that plays an important role in supporting mental health and emotional wellbeing.

At its core, mindfulness involves intentionally paying attention to the present moment with openness and without judgment.

This awareness helps create space between your thoughts, emotions, and reactions, allowing you to respond more thoughtfully to life’s challenges rather than feeling overwhelmed by them.

Research shows that mindfulness can reduce stress by calming the nervous system and lowering levels of chronic tension.

By bringing attention to the present moment, it helps interrupt cycles of worry, rumination, and negative thought patterns that often contribute to anxiety and low mood.

Mindfulness also strengthens emotional regulation, making it easier to notice emotions as they arise and manage them in healthier ways.

Over time, regular mindfulness practice can improve focus, enhance self-awareness, and support greater emotional resilience. It encourages compassion toward yourself and others, helping to build a more balanced and grounded approach to daily life. While mindfulness is not about eliminating difficult thoughts or feelings, it offers practical tools to relate to them with greater calm, clarity, and understanding.
