Something a lot of people don't understand is that we need a certain level of health to take care of our health. All of the coping skills, lifestyle choices, and self-care require *some* level of capacity. This is why we often see a spiral when it comes to health - spiraling downwards pretty quickly as our capacity to care for ourselves dwindles, and why we see a spiral upwards as we gain more capacity to engage in our health.
Too often I see folks blaming others, or blaming themselves, for their inability to keep up with self-care. And this leads to shame, burnout, isolation, and worsening of our health.
If we do not recognize the holistic impacts of the systems we live within, our capacities and resources, and how we are experiencing all of this, it is so easy to move into a space of blame and shame.
I promise you're doing a great job. Myself and my team of therapists are happy to show you how you're already "enough" and help you build the capacity to do more.
Sending you some gentleness today, for anyone who could use some.
