Wow what a perfect day for our Empower Girls workshop! Thank you to all our awesome girls that came out and made their turtle stepping stones! Such creativity was shared along with chats about what makes us strong, brave and unique, we even got to mix a little mindfulness in their as well! Great big thanks to my amazing interns Alysa and Kate and my lovely kiddo for volunteering her time today with the group. Sad you missed out today? Feeling stuck in your thoughts today? This is your reminder to pause, breathe, and celebrate the small stuff. Overwhelm can be Overcome.

Before starting my master’s degree, I wrote myself a note — a letter full of reminders to embrace joy, stop spiraling, and just breathe. Today, I’m sharing a piece of that note in case you need it too:

💛 You deserve joy — don’t send it away when it shows up.
🫁 You have time — pause, breathe in for 4, hold for 7, breathe out for 8.
💬 You deserve to be heard — speak up, ask for help when you need it.
🌱 You are growing — even when it doesn’t feel like it.

You don’t have to wait for big milestones to celebrate. Celebrate the fact that you’re here, reading this, and trying. That’s already enough.

A warm welcome to Kate our spring intern! Kate is coming to us from Martin Luther University College, federated with Wilfred Laurier University. She is completing a Master of Arts program majoring in theology, with a concentration on spiritual care and psychotherapy. Kate shares our passion for working with children, youth and their families and brings with her experience working as a front-line community worker and a live-in resident advisor.

Outside the therapy room Kate is living her best life with her partner, cat and dog and is an avid music lover who plays piano guitar and sings. She is also a bit of a cofeee connoisseur.

Kate is an LGBTQ2S+ advocate and is excited for the opportunity to support the community during her internship with us. Kate’s sessions are at an affordable rate of $90/session and include even lower sliding scale and pro bono spots.

“Love in Full Bloom: A Valentine’s Self-Love Workshop for Tween Girls (Ages 10-13)”

Join us for a fun and uplifting Valentine ‘s-themed workshop focused on self-love, confidence, and friendship! Girls will enjoy creative activities like writing love letters to themselves, art activities, and sharing heartfelt compliments. It’s a day filled with joy, positivity, and celebration—because the most important kind of love is self-love!

This psycho-educational group is being run by Registered Psychotherapists and qualifies for reimbursement through most extended benefit plans.

We are excited for Alysa to be our newest clincial intern to join our amazing team of therapists. Alysa is completing her studies at Yorkville University in the Masters of Arts Counselling of Psychology program.

Alysa has already built her clinical experience up working in crisis services and supporting youth in various mental health related programs in our community. Like all our interns her rates are reduced to ensure accessibility for all of our clients. Alysa has also recently gained training through the Gottman couples counselling Institute and is looking forward to supporting couples as well as individuals during her 8 month internship with us.
