A local family has paid tribute to their father through the In Memory Mural at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, celebrating his life and long connection to the hospital’s dialysis program.
Terrie Felhaber was a dialysis patient for 10 years and remained deeply grateful for the care he received close to home. His family says the relationships he built with staff and fellow patients were especially meaningful to him.
“Dad always said how thankful he was to be able to get dialysis so close to home, and that the staff and patients felt like a second family to him,” said his son, Dean Felhaber.
In his final days, Terrie returned from Ottawa to St. Francis Memorial Hospital to be closer to family. During that time, the hospital’s hospice care provided comfort and support.
The family’s tribute centres on the oak tree featured in the In Memory Mural, chosen for its symbolism of strength, resilience, and leadership—qualities that reflected Terrie.

The In Memory Mural at St. Francis Memorial Hospital provides families with a meaningful way to honour loved ones while supporting care close to home. Donations help ensure caregivers have the tools they need, when they’re needed most.
