I often get asked, “What’s the difference between a Therapist and a Life Coach.

While there are many similarities such as we both work on mindset, coping skills, and help you create specific goals there are also many differences.

For instance therapists typically hold advanced degrees in fields like psychology, counseling, social work, or psychiatry.

Life Coaches have various educational backgrounds and Coaching Certifications. My educational background is in Kinesiology and Nursing. I completed my Life Coaching Certification as a Registered Nurse and hold a Board Certification as a Nurse Coach.

What to do when you want to break free from people-pleasing

What doesn’t work:

❌ Read endless self-help books
❌ Isolate yourself so you avoid situations where you might people-please
❌ Ignore reality and use substances, shopping or vacations to numb out
❌ Do nothing and expect everyone else around you to change

What does work:

How to navigate vacations as an introvert with people-pleasing tendencies

Here are my top tips to help you navigate vacations and keep the stress to a minimum.

✅ Manage Your Expectations. People-pleasing habits don’t magically disappear while you are on vacation (although it would be magical if they did!). So be mindful of avoiding slipping into “yes” mode and then feeling overextended and resentful because you are doing what everyone else wants to do the whole time. (Been there…done that…not recommended lol)

✅ Plan some downtime. While you may want to make the most of every minute, don’t forget to schedule in some downtime to rest and recharge. That way you do not feel like you need a vacation right when you get home from your vacation!

✅ Stick to your morning routine. Continuing with your morning ritual while on vacation will help to set you up for the best days while you are out of your regular routine. Whether it is a morning walk, a cup of coffee before everyone else is up or some journaling time…figure out a way to make it happen and you will not regret it!

I wish I knew this “a decade ago”

I wish I hadn’t avoided my reality for so long and tried so many things to numb my painful feelings. I thought it was helpful and that my problems would just disappear as I had an “ ignore it and push through” mentality. It really just led to more suffering.

I wish I had taken the time to face and get to the root cause of my resentment and exhaustion instead of ignoring it.

Once I knew that there was a way to break free from people-pleasing and all the suffering it caused me with a simple, step-by-step plan and some guidance, I made it my mission to make sure that other women knew they could be free from this toxic pattern and experience life with peace, confidence and joy.
