✨ Officially Certified – Menopause Mental Health Provider ✨

I’m excited to share that I have officially completed BRIA’s Menopause Mental Health Provider Training and have received my certification after successfully completing my exam.
I am now MMHPC-certified.🩷

This advanced training strengthens my understanding of the intricate connection between hormones, brain health, mood, anxiety, trauma, sleep, cognition, and identity during perimenopause and menopause.

Menopause is not simply a physical transition.
It is neurological. Emotional. Psychological. Relational.
It can shape how we experience ourselves, our resilience, our relationships, and our sense of stability.

This training allows me to integrate neuroscience, hormonal literacy, and trauma-informed therapy in a way that honours the full complexity of this life stage — understanding the biological shifts in the brain while also supporting the emotional and identity changes that often accompany perimenopause and menopause.

I’m grateful to now offer this specialized training within my practice — a focused area of care that is both unique and deeply needed to better support women navigating perimenopause and menopause. Expanding my services in this way feels incredibly meaningful.

Perimenopause and menopause are significant life transitions. Women deserve care that is informed, thoughtful, and grounded in both science and compassion.🩷

It’s not the argument that hurts most.
It’s the distance that follows.

You didn’t set out to hurt each other.
You didn’t plan to feel this far apart.

Somewhere along the way, the conversations started to change.

The same tension keeps circling back.
One of you reaches.
The other pulls away.
Voices rise — or silence stretches longer than either of you expected.

And afterward, you both feel alone.

Not because you don’t care.
But because you care so deeply.

Underneath the frustration, there’s something much softer.

“I don’t want to lose you.”
“I need to know I matter.”
“I miss us.”

At Dale Counselling Services, I offer Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), a deeply researched, attachment-based approach that helps couples reconnect at the emotional level.

This approach is about understanding the bond between you.

Many relationship approaches focus on improving communication skills or managing conflict differently. Those tools can help. But often they don’t reach the deeper place where the hurt actually lives.

Because most fights aren’t really about the dishes, schedules, or tone of voice.

They’re about questions that feel much more vulnerable:

Are you there for me?
Do I still matter to you?
Am I safe with you?

When that emotional bond feels uncertain, we protect ourselves.

One partner may reach harder for reassurance.
The other may withdraw to avoid more hurt.

And a painful cycle forms — even though neither of you truly wants it.

In Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, we slow that cycle down.
We soften defensiveness.
We gently explore the hurt beneath the anger.
We make space for the feelings that are harder to say out loud.

Instead of reacting from protection,
you begin responding from connection.

When emotional safety starts to return, something shifts.

✨Listening deepens.
✨Conflict slows.
✨Closeness grows again.

This work isn’t about deciding who’s right.

It’s about strengthening the bond.
It’s about remembering why you chose each other in the first place.

Healing in relationships doesn’t happen through blame.

It happens through understanding.
Through courage.
Through reaching — even when it feels vulnerable.

If the connection still matters, that’s where we begin.❤️

Most trauma therapies begin with memory.✨
Deep Brain Reorienting begins with neurology. 🧠

Specifically, the part of the brain that reacted before you had words — the brainstem.

That tiny split second when your nervous system registered:

“This is not safe.” 🌧️

Not safe in your body.
Not safe in the relationship.
Not safe in the moment.

Before the tears.
Before the anger.
Before the shame.
Before you even understood what was happening.

When something overwhelming occurs, your nervous system prepares for impact. It braces. It tightens. It orients toward danger.

If that shock is never fully processed, the body can continue to respond as though the threat is still present — even years later.

That is why you can logically know you are safe…
and still feel braced inside. 🤍

Deep Brain Reorienting works directly with that early neurological response — the orienting reflex and the shock layer beneath emotion — allowing the nervous system to gently complete what it could not complete at the time.

When that happens, the shift is often subtle… but deeply meaningful.

The body stops preparing for danger.
Triggers lose their intensity.
Old reactions soften.
The past begins to feel like the past. ✨

This is not about coping harder.

It is about helping the nervous system settle at its deepest level.✨🌿

Deep Brain Reorienting is a modern, cutting-edge trauma therapy grounded in neuroscience. It requires advanced training, clinical precision, and careful pacing.

At Dale Counselling Services, we are trained in DBR Level 1 and Level 2, and this work is offered with deep respect for your nervous system and your pace.

Because healing does not begin with pushing.

✨It begins with precision.
✨With compassion.
✨With safety. 🤍

✨Have you ever noticed how your body reacts before your mind can make sense of it?✨

The tightness in your chest.
The racing thoughts at night.
The sudden tears.
The irritability.
The exhaustion that doesn’t seem to lift.

That’s your nervous system working very hard to protect you.

Sometimes it has been in survival mode for so long that it forgets what “safe” feels like.

Regulating your nervous system isn’t about forcing yourself to calm down.
It isn’t about pushing through.
It isn’t about doing more.

It’s about gently teaching your body that this moment is okay.

It might look like:
✨ One slow, steady breath.
✨ Softening your shoulders just a little.
✨ Placing your feet firmly on the ground.
✨ Stepping outside for fresh air.
✨ Sitting with someone who feels steady and supportive.

Healing happens in small, compassionate moments.
Not in perfection. Not in pressure.

Over time, your body can learn that it no longer has to stay on high alert.
It can learn rest.
It can learn safety.
It can learn calm.

And you don’t have to do that work alone.

✨Sometimes the most important reminders are the quiet ones. ✨

Not about goals.
Not about pushing harder.
Not about doing more.

But about who we are becoming in the middle of it all.

✨Liking ourselves.
✨Choosing kindness.
✨Allowing a slower pace.
✨Staying connected.
✨Living authentically.

These aren’t luxuries.
They are anchors.

In therapy, we often discover that what people are longing for isn’t dramatic change, it’s alignment.
A life that feels steadier. Truer. More peaceful on the inside.

If things feel fast or overwhelming lately, maybe today is simply about noticing one small thing that matters… and letting that be enough.🤎

✨ Specialized Menopause Mental Health Therapy — Now Available ✨

✨ Ladies, let’s talk — really talk. ✨

Have you noticed that suddenly your emotions feel bigger?
Your patience feels shorter?
Your thinking feels foggy?
Your sleep is off?
And yet… you’re still expected to push through.

For far too long, perimenopause and menopause have been minimized, dismissed, or rarely talked about openly. Women are told it’s “just hormones,” “just stress,” or “just part of aging” — while still being expected to work, care for others, lead, and hold everything together.

So let’s pause and name what so many women are experiencing:
💬 What you’re feeling is real.
💬 These changes are not a personal failure.
💬 This stage of life deserves understanding, support, and open conversation. 🩷

There have been meaningful advancements on the medical and physiological side of perimenopause and menopause — addressing hot flashes, sleep changes, weight gain, sexual health concerns, and hormonal shifts. That progress matters.

But when it comes to mental health — the emotional impact, anxiety, mood changes, overwhelm, changes in sexual desire, identity shifts, and the feeling of not quite recognizing yourself — there has been far less focus and far less specialized support.

✨ That’s why I’m so excited to now be a Certified Menopause Mental Health Therapist, with advanced training focused specifically on the mental health impact of this stage of life, helping to bring much-needed, menopause-informed care to our area. ✨

This is specialized, menopause-informed therapy that truly understands what this phase of life feels like — and how deeply it can affect emotional well-being, relationships, and self-connection.

This approach:
• Understands why anxiety can suddenly feel louder
• Recognizes brain fog as neurological — not “in your head”
• Supports emotional overload, burnout, and relationship strain through a hormonal lens
• Creates space to talk openly about changes in intimacy and sexual desire
• Validates identity shifts and major life transitions common in this phase
• Offers a space where you don’t have to explain, justify, or minimize what you’re feeling

And most importantly…

✨ I hear you.
✨ I’m with you.
✨ I get it.

This work is about connection — reducing shame, increasing understanding, and offering support that meets women exactly where they are during this stage of life.

💗 You don’t have to push through this alone.
💗 Care that truly understands is here.

Warmly,
Debbie 🩷

Did you know your body can react before your mind has a chance to catch up?

Have you ever felt your heart race, your chest tighten, or your body freeze — even when you know you’re safe?

That’s your nervous system trying to protect you.

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a gentle trauma therapy that works with those automatic body reactions — the ones that happen before words, thoughts, or memories are clear.

Instead of asking you to relive painful experiences, DBR helps your body finish what it started in moments of shock or fear, so it no longer has to stay on high alert.

This approach can be especially helpful if you:

✨Feel tense or on edge for no clear reason

✨Shut down or feel numb when things get overwhelming

✨Carry stress in your body more than in your thoughts

✨Want trauma therapy that feels calm and contained

DBR is slow, steady, and guided with care.
Many people notice change not as a big emotional release, but as a quiet sense of ease — sleeping better, breathing deeper, feeling more present.

✨ At its core, DBR is about helping your body realize that it’s safe now — so you don’t have to keep living in survival mode. ✨

Sunday mornings in the clinic hold a special kind of stillness.💕

After the last client has gone and I’m sitting quietly, finishing up my notes before heading out, I often pause and take it all in. The conversations. The courage. The trust that was shared in this space.

I feel deeply grateful to be invited into people’s lives during moments that are tender, complex, and real. Grateful for the vulnerability my clients show, and for the work we do together as they navigate change, healing, and growth.

It’s a privilege I never take lightly.
And a reminder, every single week, why I do this work. 🤍

Around here, we’re good at carrying on. 🩵

We show up.
We get through the day.
We don’t always talk about what’s weighing on us — we just keep moving.

But some days, the quiet feels heavier.
The wind feels louder. 🌬️
And the tiredness isn’t just in your body — it’s deeper than that.

Therapy doesn’t have to be dramatic or overwhelming.
Sometimes it’s just a place to sit, talk things through, and feel understood by someone who knows what it’s like to live here — the long winters, the short days, the way we learn to be strong and silent.

You don’t need to hit a breaking point.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
If something inside you is asking for a bit of care, that’s enough. ✨

When you’re ready to talk, even if you don’t know where to start, I’m here.

✨ A gentle reminder for the week ahead ✨

If the days feel heavy, come back to the simple things that quietly ground you.

✨The warmth of the winter sun on your face.
✨The way it glistens across crisp January snow.
✨The clean, fresh, crisp smell of winter air.
✨The sound of boots crunching as you step outside.
✨The first sip of hot coffee warming your hands and chest.
✨A deep breath you didn’t rush.
✨Pulling a blanket a little higher.
✨The quiet of the house before the day begins.
✨A conversation with a friend who really gets it.
✨A moment of shared laughter.
✨The comfort of being home while the weather does what it does outside.

In a world that can feel overwhelming and hard to understand, these small moments help refill our cup.

They remind us that slowing down is allowed, connection matters, and we don’t have to carry everything all at once.

Sometimes, returning to the basics is exactly what we need.🩵

There is a version of you that learned to cope.
And there is a version of you that is ready to live with more ease.

Neither is wrong.
Neither needs to disappear.

Therapy isn’t about erasing who you’ve been.
It’s about making space for who you’re becoming.

If this resonates, and you’re ready to explore therapy, build new skills, or better understand yourself, support is here when you’re ready.🧡
