Today, we received an unexpected phone call from a gentleman named Al, a U.S. Military Veteran calling all the way from Seattle. After nearly an hour of back-and-forth conversations, we finally worked everything out and accepted his generous $125 donation☺️
Al told us he had seen that our Prime Minister was in Gander yesterday, which had him thinking of the things Gander and Newfoundland had done to help Americans in the aftermath of 9/11. He decided to pay it forward.
His reason?
“Thank you for helping my fellow Americans during the hard times of 9/11. Not all of us are the same, and we don’t want a 51st state. Please use this for the customers of your café.”
In honor of Al’s kindness, tomorrow we’ll be paying it forward by using his donation to treat our customers, just as he wished.
