A loving partner will be able to hear you and adjust their approach to a situation because they want you to be happy. Find a dialogue within your relationship that helps you feel heard.

Reading For Mental Hygiene 📚

I have always been a bookworm. I loved to read as a kid, and that's followed me into adulthood. A couple years ago I heard the term "personal development," and fell in love with reading in a whole new way.

My current read is "The Gratitude Diaries" by Janice Kaplan. The author spends a year looking on the bright side, even when she didn't want to. It's a great read so far!!

Did you know that we are made up of at least 50% water, even our bones are made up from 31% water. That's why its so important for us to drink enough water, not to mention the health benefits from water.

The average recommendation for women is to drink 11 or so cups, or just over 2.5L of water a day. This helps flush out toxins, refreshes our minds, and fuels our body.

How much water are you drinking? I keep a 1.2L water bottle by my side and I will fill it up 2-3 times most days. Hydrate yo self!

With COVID restrictions keeping us locked down here in Alberta it's been a little more challenging to be active. A friend of mine suggested the Fiton App to me and it's been awesome to find easy at home workouts on...for free!!

My favorites and the yoga classes and meditatons that the app offers. The videos start at about 5 minutes long and go up from there. It's been great to be able to pick and choose how long I want to spend each day.

It's called a comfort zone for a reason - we are very comfortable to stay in our bubble of comfort and not step outside that zone. We fear rejection, being wrong, failing, and so much more; those fears hold us back from really living.

I challenge you to take a step out of your comfort zone this upcoming week. It doesn't have to be something big and grand, but it's going to feel big for you.

Maybe you have always wanted to tell someone you admire their style but you're too shy to say something...go tell them!! If you have always wanted to wear leather pants...go buy a pair and wear the damn things!!

Life is too short to stay inside our comfort zones wondering "What if I only had done xy and z?" So quit wondering, take a big breath, remind yourself you can do fricken ANYTHING and go live!

Giiirrrllll...take five for yourself!

It's okay to slow down, to step out for a moment, to give yourself the space you need. I know it feels like you can't, like you have to be present and perfect always, but that's just not realistic honey.

Go for a walk around the block , color or doodle, give yourself 5 minutes to pull out your phone and aimlessly scroll social media; do whatever you can do in that moment for yourself so you can take a quick mental break.

Today is and I wanted to recognize this woman right here - she is strong, she is funny, she is a good friend, she’s so loving, she always has a hand to lend for those in need, she tries her best not to judge, and she’s always in my corner when I need someone. Remember when we were angsty teenagers in our bedroom writing "Dear Diary", and spilling our guts about the new cute person we were crushing on? We didn't know then, but we were doing ourselves a favour by journaling our feelings - a habit many of us lose as adults.

I found this website with some awesome journaling prompts if you want to be old school and put a pen to paper, or try out the Gratitude app to journal from your phone. You're not doing yourself any favours keeping all those thoughts shoved down inside yourself - let them out and give yourself permission to be, exactly as you are 🥰

I know 2020 wasn't the year we thought it was going to be, but I for one made the most out of the year we had. I went camping, I went roadtripping, I stayed home and binged Netflix, I spent time with friends via Zoom calls...in short I did what I needed to for my mental hygiene.

We were given a wild ride last year, and if your year wasn't all you thought it would be maybe it's time for some reflection. We are given this life and it is up to us to choose how we live it.
