Can you guess the number one response to why a parent has not taken their child for a comprehensive eye exam? It’s because they believe they are too young.

The first eye exam should take place between 6 and 9 months. This is when your optometrist assesses your child’s visual abilities, ensures the eyes are properly aligned, free of congenital cataracts and developing normally. The exams are covered by Alberta Health.
