🦶 Plantar fasciitis 💥
⚠️Risk factors:
Athletes, overweight, high arches/ flat feet, inadequate foot wear, tight calf muscles/ Achilles’ tendon, standing/ walking for long periods (especially on hard surfaces), abnormal walking pattern.
👣What?
Plantar fasciitis is a common injury of the tissue that connects the heel to the toes. This ligament acts as your arch support and can become strained (strain can lead to tears).
🗡Signs & symptoms:
swelling, sharp/ stabbing pain to the bottom of the foot/ heel; typically after exercise or with prolonged standing , usually worse in the morning. This can happen in one or both feet.
👟Treatment:
orthotic shoes, splits, stretches/ exercises, weight management.
To relieve swelling/ pain; ice painful area, rest when needed, anti inflammatory pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil)/ Aleve.
🕰How long will it last?
It’s hard to say as each case is unique. Typically it can last a few months to a year.
(As always consult your doctor if you have concerns/ before starting treatments.
