Calling all teenagers and parents of teens!
Dungeons and Dragons is the world's most popular role playing game. It's so much fun! And it can also be therapeutic! What better way to work through anger than through the very embodiment of anger: the Barbarian? Yes, I would like to rage, thank you very much! Or, if social situations make you break out in a cold sweat, why not practice ordering a mutton pizza from the grumpy tavern owner?
I've been dreaming of offering group therapy using Dungeons and Dragons for a while now and I'm putting this post out there to see who might be interested. Based on the group that comes together, the adventure would be tailored to the particular goals of the party.
Potential issues that we might address include anxiety, struggling socially, depression, grief, anger management, and many more. This might be a fantastic group for teens on the spectrum or struggling with their identity and sense of self. Being a registered counselling therapist candidate who is also a seasoned D&D player and Dungeon Master, I can adapt the story to the client. Through roleplaying situations and practicing strategies, we might find creative solutions to real life problems. This adventure would last between 6 and 8 two-hour sessions with one individual session before and after the adventure.
If you are interested in participating or know someone who might benefit, feel free to reach out to ask any questions you may have. My phone number is (902) 536-1918 or you can check out our website: youthenticcounselling.com
