How I take care of myself as a full time RMT!
Spending time with people I love: how important it is that even if some days I am exhausted from being around multiple energies every day, being around friends and family really can fill my cup! Giggles do heal.
Food: come on, obviously. Not only is it important to be fuelling my body but it is equally important to be enjoying that food. Going to dinner with loved ones, having a treat after a hard or even celebratory day. Grabbing coffee from my favorite coffee shop.
Time in nature is so so important to me. It truly does ground me. Lately I’ve been loving the colours of the leaves but I also love the sound of the rushing waves. I love watching the little duckies in the marsh. It reminds me that this world is so much bigger than myself.
Hot/cold therapy: after every single treatment I am running my hands under freezing cold water until I can’t stand it anymore. Not only are my hands super hot after treatment, they are filled with blood from working so hard! The cold allows them to flush out and allows fresh blood to enter. I also love a good Nordic spa as shown above. I’m a sucker for a bath or even a long shower. This is so good for my body and my brain!
Lastly and honestly most important physically for me is exercise. As a hypermobile girlie, my body hates to do repetitive things such as massaging all day. The most effective way I’ve found to deal with that pain is to strengthen strengthen strengthen. After a full day of pushing, a little pull workout focusing on my back can really help!! A simple mid back workout can reset any tendencies I have to be stuck in a forward posture. I also do a ton of mobility at the gym, chest opening and thoracic rotation being key here.
This is totally what works for me and it has taken me 5 years to find a great balance. I still get very sore some days, but I have so many tools to help me. At the start of my career I dealt with tension headaches and body pain every single day and that is definitely no longer the case.
To being healthy and happy 🥂
