❤️ February is Heart Health Month ❤️

Heart health can mean many things—from raising awareness around heart disease, to prevention, to making everyday choices that support your heart long-term.

Taking care of your heart isn’t just about one moment—it’s about the small, consistent habits that add up over time.

Here are a few heart-healthy ways to support your cardiovascular health:

🥗 Nutrition for Heart Health
• Focus on whole foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains)
• Choose healthy fats (olive oil, nuts, seeds, avocado)
• Include lean proteins (fish, legumes, poultry)
• Limit ultra-processed foods and excess sugar
• Stay hydrated

🏃‍♀️ Movement for Heart Health
• Aim for regular cardiovascular exercise (walking, cycling, swimming)
• Include strength training to support metabolic and heart health
• Move consistently—short bouts add up
• Prioritize recovery and rest

❤️ Lifestyle Matters Too
• Manage stress
• Get quality sleep
• Don’t ignore warning signs
• Schedule regular check-ups

Your heart works hard for you—let’s return the favour 💙

Meet S**a — Acupuncture with a hands-on difference!

At Coastal, S**a’s treatments go far beyond needles. While acupuncture is a powerful tool, she also uses hands-on fascial therapy and sports-focused techniques to support recovery, performance, and pain relief.

Her primary focus is treating myofascial pain using acupuncture trigger point therapy, especially for sports- and work-related injuries and ongoing pain management. This approach helps reduce tension, restore movement, and support long-term healing.

Sports acupuncture is an effective treatment for acute, chronic, and athletic injuries, blending Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern sports medicine principles for a comprehensive approach to recovery.

S**a comes with an extensive educational background and came very close to completing her Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine — bringing depth, precision, and intention to every treatment.

Whether you’re managing pain, rehabbing an injury, or optimizing performance, S**a’s integrated approach has you covered.

✨ Integrative Fascial Techniques (IFT) — a different approach to recovery ✨

If traditional massage hasn’t quite gotten to the root of your issue, Integrative Fascial Techniques (IFT) may be the missing piece.

IFT focuses on the fascia — the connective tissue that supports muscles, joints, organs, and movement throughout the entire body. Rather than working just on sore muscles, IFT looks at why an area isn’t moving or functioning well.

How IFT is different from traditional massage:
👉 Works with the tissue, not through it — no forcing or aggressive pressure
👉 Slow, intentional techniques that allow fascia to release naturally
👉 Addresses restrictions that may be contributing to pain elsewhere in the body
👉 Aims for longer-lasting results by treating the root cause, not just symptoms

Your IFT practitioner assesses where the fascia is “stuck” and gently restores its ability to glide and slide, creating a better environment for healing, movement, and recovery. Because fascia connects everything, releasing one area can positively impact another — even if the pain shows up somewhere else.

IFT blends massage therapy with an osteopathic approach, incorporating myofascial, craniosacral, and visceral techniques to treat the body as a whole.

📍 Offered with Chris Donnelly, RMT
If you’re looking for a thoughtful, whole-body approach to pain, movement restrictions, or ongoing dysfunction, IFT may be right for you.

Taping: Support that moves with you!

Taping can be a powerful tool for injury management, rehab, and performance prep — when it’s used the right way, for the right reason.

Our physiotherapy team uses a variety of taping techniques depending on your injury, goals, and activity demands, including:
👉 Sports taping – Provides firm support and stability, often used for acute injuries, return-to-play, or higher-impact sport and work demands

👉 K-Taping – Offers dynamic support, helps with swelling, muscle activation, and movement guidance while allowing full range of motion.

👉 Rehab & corrective taping – Assists with posture, joint positioning, and motor control during recovery.

👉 Prep taping – Used before sport, competition, or demanding workdays to help you feel supported and confident.

Whether you’re rehabbing an injury, returning to sport, or managing workload demands, our team will choose the taping method that best supports your body and your goals.

From the court to the pitch to the workplace, we’ve got you supported — so you can move with confidence and stability. 💪

🧠 Headaches & Migraines? Don’t Forget the Jaw.

TMJ dysfunction (the Temporomandibular Joint) is a silent and often overlooked cause of head pain, migraines, facial tension, neck pain — even voice and throat symptoms.
👉 It’s not always about clenching or grinding.

Jaw dysfunction can create subtle joint compression and muscle imbalance that sends pain upward into the skull, temples, and behind the eyes — long before obvious jaw pain shows up.

Many people with:
• Chronic headaches or migraines
• Post-accident injuries (MVA, sports, work)
• Stress-related tension
• Neck and facial pain
…are carrying unresolved TMJ dysfunction without realizing it.

✨ That’s why we take a team approach.
Our TMJ-focused care includes:
• Massage therapy
• Osteopathy
• Acupuncture
• Physiotherapy
• Chiropractic care

By addressing joint mechanics + muscle tension + nervous system stress, we help re-pattern jaw function and reduce cranial symptoms — not just mask them.

💬 If headaches keep coming back, it may be time to look beyond the head.

Your jaw might be the missing piece.

Today is Bell Let’s Talk Day 💬

A reminder that mental health is just as important as physical health — and that staying healthy means caring for both.

Stress, anxiety, burnout, pain, poor sleep, and life’s demands all impact how we feel, move, and show up each day. Talking about it matters. Getting support matters even more.

At Coastal Sports & Wellness, we take a whole-person approach to health. Through movement, hands-on care, nervous system support, and collaboration across disciplines, we’re here to help you feel stronger — mentally and physically.

Check in on yourself. Check in on each other. You’re not alone. 💙

✨ Meet Maxine Jeffrey – Osteopathy for Whole-Body Balance ✨

Ever wondered what osteopathy is?

Osteopathy is a hands-on, holistic treatment that focuses on how your muscles, joints, nerves, and circulation work together. Rather than just treating symptoms, osteopathy looks for the root cause of pain or restriction and helps your body heal naturally.

👐 How osteopathy can help:
• Back, neck & shoulder pain
• Postural issues
• Sports injuries
• Headaches & tension
• Stress-related aches
• Mobility & flexibility

Maxine Jeffrey uses gentle manual techniques such as soft tissue work, joint mobilisation, and stretching to restore balance and improve overall wellbeing.

Your body does the talking — osteopathy helps it listen!
