Recently someone (who didn’t know me) was curious, if as a nutritionist, I practice what I preach…

I almost laughed. I honestly didn’t have a response. I mean I get it, there’s lot of people with titles who don’t embody their work.
But I couldn’t imagine a world where I lived any other way.

Like many of my clients, I have my own story. One of health crisis with no clear answers. One of suffering and getting responses like, “everything looks normal”. One of people telling me to “just stop stressing” or “it’s all in your head”.

I had to learn the hard way that my body needs rest, a trauma response isn’t the only way to live, and taking care of myself is the most important thing I need to do.

While my health journey is far from perfect. Last year showed me it’s definitely not a one and done thing. Rather when we keep taking care of our selves, listening to our bodies, and honouring what we need, things inside start to work pretty well.

I don’t do this work for any other reason than I truly believe in it. Every cell in my body knows it’s the truth. And I get to be the living example of what is possible.

So when someone questions if I practice what I preach, I honestly don’t need to waste my breath convincing them. Soon enough they will find out, it’s now the only way I know how to live.

📸 This was me this week: when my inbox was full and my to do list undone, taking a 30 min lay down because I could feel my body needed it.

No, this doesn’t mean you have a giant tape worm inside you … but it does mean there may be friends hanging out in places that we don’t need or want 🙅‍♀️

Stealing our nutrients (like iron), increasing our cravings for sugars and carbs, stressing our immune system, and even having impacts on things like gut and mental health.

I don’t need willpower to avoid the chips and sugar shelf in my house. I literally don’t even realize it’s there 90% of the time.

It’s not because I’m “strong”, it’s because when our bodies have what they need, they don’t WANT those foods.
