Children aged 6-8 should see an orthodontist for a check-up, as this is when permanent molars erupt and developmental issues become apparent. Key issues include crowded or misplaced teeth, premature/late loss of baby teeth, jaw clicking, mouth breathing, and persistent thumb-sucking. Early evaluation by age 7 can identify these problems early.
