🌻 A Beautiful Tribute in Bloom 🌻
With deep love and remembrance, Kim Lafferty raised $780 in support of our hospice by growing and selling sunflowers, Susan’s favourite flower, in memory of her dear friend.🌞
“Sunflowers held a special place in Sue’s heart, and her presence in my life and the lives of others was just as vibrant and uplifting. As I tend to my sunflower rows each year, I am comforted by the knowledge that Sue’s spirit will continue to shine brightly, warmed by the sun’s gentle rays.” – Kim Lafferty
Each sunflower sold was more than a flower. It was a reflection of Susan’s radiant spirit, and a way for those who loved her to honour her memory with beauty, kindness, and purpose.
Kim, thank you for transforming grief into a gift of hope and care for others. Your tribute is a touching reminder of the power of love, memory, and community.

💙 A Heart Full of Compassion 💙
When kindness starts young, the impact lasts a lifetime.
Meet Elijah, a 4-year-old son of our wonderful RPN, Kassandra O’Sullivan. After witnessing how much Hospice Quinte means to both his mom and his grandmother, volunteer Tammy Gaignard, Elijah wanted to be part of it too- in his own special way.
Out of pure love and thoughtfulness, he chose to use his own allowance to buy essential comfort items for our residents and families. Body wash, lotion, toothpaste, and chapstick, all the little things that mean so much during a difficult time.
When Tammy heard about his generous idea, she took him shopping to help bring his vision to life. Together, they filled bags with care, ensuring that those we support feel seen, valued, and comforted.
Thank you, Elijah, for choosing to walk beside your mom and grandmother in making a difference. You’ve shown us all that hospice can hold a big place in the smallest hearts. 💛

🌸 Flowers of Comfort, Given in Memory🌸
We’re deeply touched by a generous and heartfelt donation from a lovely lady named Karen Golan who gifted Dahlia May flowers to Hospice Quinte for the entire month of September.
This heartfelt donation was made in loving memory of the Golan and Feeney families- cherished farm families from the Tweed, Madoc, and Kaladar areas, whose love for their land and community still gently lives on.
Thank you, Karen, for your kindness. These flowers will surely bring beauty and comfort to so many during some of life’s most tender moments. Your thoughtful gift is a gentle reminder that even the smallest acts of love can blossom into something lasting.

🌟 40 Years of Compassion | International Day of Charity 🌟
Today, on the International Day of Charity, we take a moment to reflect on four decades of providing unwavering care, comfort, and dignity to individuals and families across our community.
From our humble beginnings, it has been your compassion- through every gift, every volunteer hour, and every shared moment that has transformed Hospice Quinte from a grassroots vision into a cornerstone of end-of-life care.
As we mark this milestone, we’re reminded that Hospice Quinte’s story is not ours alone. It belongs to every hand that prepared a meal, every voice that offered comfort, and every heart that gave so generously. This is a legacy built together, day by day, with empathy at its heart and community at its core.
🕊️ Today, we invite you to help carry that legacy forward.
Your support ensures that expert care is always within reach, nourishing meals are served with love, and no one walks their final journey alone.
Together, we celebrate the past that shaped us and commit to a future defined by compassion, connection, and care. 💫

For over 10 years, Hospice Quinte has been planning to expand our services and address the need for a community-based Hospice Quinte Care Centre within our service area where we can provide this unique level of care. The need is now urgent and the time is right.
We are excited to announce the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has approved us moving forward with a 6-bed Hospice Quinte Care Centre, with initial capital funding of $1.2 million, and has also committed ongoing operational funding. Our regional municipalities, also recognizing the need for such a facility, have generously pledged their support. The City of Quinte West has donated property for the facility, as well as $1 million in funding towards its construction. The City of Belleville has also generously committed another $1 million in project funding. This foundational support has allowed us to now move forward with this long-awaited project which will provide our community with a much-needed option for palliative care services, close to home.
To bring this vision to reality, we have launched our $9.5M Heart & Home Building Campaign to support the construction of the new Hospice Quinte Care Centre. As we move into a very exciting time in our history, we are confident that with the community’s support, we will reach our destination, together.
