I asked my family doc about an issue I was having, I wanted to know the root cause of it and figure it out together.
She shrugged her shoulders and said ,” I don’t know, some women get it and some don’t. We can put you on this med [to mask the symptoms].”
I absolutely love my family doctor. I’ve had her since I was 15 years old. But I’ve always been firm in one thing - I make the decisions and she presents me with education and options.
I’ve been a long standing root-cause, self-advocate-for-my-own-health and med rejector.
I have long standing relationships with my healthcare teams and sometimes we both learn something new.
I don’t hate modern medicine.
There are times when it is needed.
I do dislike the constant push for meds and suppression of symptoms.
I could get downgraded on the algorithm because of these posts, but it’s my own experience. I hope that by hearing my stories you will learn to be able to say “No thanks.” or “Let me do some research” or even “I’ll think about it and get back to you” when thinking about your own health care.
Herbalism isn’t a quick fix.
Something in your body is out of balance and the plants (in their wholeness) are there to help support it back into balance.
The most important part of this post… I want you to know that you have a choice in what you do with your own body.
The natural and holistic path isn’t as easy as taking a pill… but in the long run, it’s way better for you.
You know your body inside and out.
You know what’s normal for you, and what’s out of the ordinary.
Stand tall in that unique power and learn and grow.
You don’t need another healer that’s a modern md replacement or an internet guru to tell you what protocol to follow… get curious about everything, when you come across a solution, research it, let it sit in your soul and see how each feels.
When it feels just right, do it.
Always follow your own gut.
