📚 Quick Lesson: Balance, Bone Health & Fall Prevention for Women 45+
As women age, their risk of falling increases significantly, especially after menopause when bone density declines.
🔹 1 in 3 women over 65 will fall each year
🔹 90% of hip fractures in older adults are caused by falls
🔹 Women are twice as likely as men to develop osteoporosis
🦴 What’s the difference between osteopenia and osteoporosis?
• Osteopenia is the early stage of bone loss — your bones are weaker than normal but not yet fragile.
• Osteoporosis means bones are porous, brittle, and much more likely to fracture even from small slips or bumps.
Both conditions are silent — you often don’t know you have them until you break a bone. That’s why prevention is key.
