CARBON TAX IN CANADA

By now you might've heard the news or seen the change in price at the pump in certain provinces.

The federal government increased the carbon tax from $65 per tonne to $80 per tonne but offsets the tax by offering a tax rebate.

That's almost an increase of 20%.

With the price of gas constantly rising along with new taxes, it would be interesting to see what's more expensive between gas and botox. Both are expensive liquids but with very different purposes.

To give you an example:

If you pay 50$ a week for gas, that's $2600/year.

If you pay $600 every 4 months for botox, that's $2400/year.

❌️ IV THERAPY ❌️

If you've been following my stories, you might seen yesterday that for the first time in many years, 4 professional orders of health care professionals in Quebec including the CMQ, OIIQ, OPQ, ODQ have agreed on something: IV therapy has no proven benefits and shouldn't be encouraged due to potential risks associated.

This is especially relevant in the field of medical aesthetics where clinics prioritize maximizing profits over the benefit of the patient. There are so many skincare and beauty trends that have little to no scientific evidence backing it up.

Look I'm no "anti-drip" or "drip hater" 🤬 but the fact that cosmetic clinics have the audacity to charge patients 300-400$ for a bag of IV fluid containing vitamins in "cocktails" while claiming unproven benefits is beyond me and frankly unethical. 😒

Don't be fooled by their "aesthetic" and clean instagram pages. Do your research. 🧐

Si vous avez suivi mes stories hier, vous avez peut-être vu que pour la 1e fois depuis de nombreuses années, quatre ordres professionnels de la santé du Québec, dont le CMQ, l'OIIQ, l'OPQ et l'ODQ se sont mis d'accord sur leur position en lien avec la thérapie intraveineuse: qu'elle n'a pas de bénéfices prouvés et ne devrait pas être encouragée en raison des risques potentiels associés.

Cela est particulièrement pertinent dans le domaine de l'esthétique médicale, où les cliniques privilégient la maximisation des profits plutôt que les soins du patient. Il existe de nombreuses tendances en matière de soins de la peau et de beauté qui ont peu ou pas de preuves scientifiques à leur appui. Je ne suis pas opposé aux perfusions intraveineuses mais le fait que les cliniques esthétiques osent facturer aux patients 300 à 400 $ pour un liquide intraveineux contenant des vitamines dans des "cocktails", tout en prétendant des avantages non prouvés, me dépasse et est franchement immoral.😒

Enough travel pictures... I'm ready to dive right back into aesthetic medicine!

Last week has been busy already but the rush before the holidays means that it's time to stay focused! Make sure to book your appointment in advance in order to reserve your spot!

While the world of aesthetics is focused on exosomes and regenerative medicine, I brought back new knowledge and techniques from South Korea and Japan. Time to put these novel techniques to good use in Canada!

It's exciting to see how research and development has contributed to the field of aesthetic medicine. Lots of new treatments are coming out but I'm always weary of 🐃💩 treatments that provide minimal benefit with a heavy price tag.
