✨Happy New Year, Everyone!✨
I would like to start the year with an educational post.
🧠 Understanding the difference between imaging tests can help you advocate for your own care.
Many people are sent for imaging without ever being fully told why one test is chosen over another — and that’s okay. Here’s a simple breakdown you can keep in your back pocket when speaking with your physician:
🔹 X-Ray
• Best for bones and fractures
• Quick and commonly used for chest and lung concerns
• Limited when it comes to soft tissue (muscles, ligaments)
🔹 CT Scan
• Shows detailed cross-section images of the body
• Often used for internal injuries, complex fractures, and trauma
• Gives more detail than an X-ray, but still limited for soft tissue
🔹 MRI
• Best for muscles, ligaments, tendons, discs, nerves, brain, and organs
• No radiation
• Often used when pain or symptoms aren’t clearly explained by X-ray or CT
✨ Why this matters:
Knowing what each scan shows helps you ask better questions, understand your results, and feel more confident in your care plan.
There are no “silly” questions — informed patients heal better.

If you’ve ever nodded along in an appointment but felt unsure afterward… you’re not alone. Education is part of healing 🤍
