The family of Marcel Albert Laporte is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 24th, 2026, at the age of 62, following a brief but serious illness.

To his core, Marcel was an incredible dad. His daughter, Nikki Laporte of Calgary, was his whole world, and anyone who knew him knew how much he loved her. He is also survived by his brother Michel (Cathy) Laporte of Victoria, BC; his sister Caroline (Mel) Palmer of Bonnyville, AB; and special friend and mom to Nikki, Bev. Marcel will be deeply missed by his niece and nephew, Courtnay (Leon) McIntyre and Conlan Laporte, as well as many extended family members and close friends.

Marcel now reunites with those who went before him: his parents, Robert and Denise Laporte; his brother Danny Laporte; and his nephew Cole Palmer.

Marcel was a hard worker and took great pride in being a Heavy Equipment Operator. It was a craft he poured his heart into and in 2005 one of his lifelong dreams was realized when he purchased his own track hoe. He often worked extended periods away from home and while those stretches were a sacrifice, he always felt it was worth it looking back at a job well done.

A Celebration of Marcel’s Life will be held closer to summer, where stories can be shared, laughs can be had, and Marcel will be remembered exactly as he lived — with a big heart, and a love for a good time with the people he cared about. A video tribute of Marcel's Life is available to watch at https://www.mementofuneralchapel.com/obituary/Marcel-Laporte

In honour of Marcel, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Palliative Care, c/o Bonnyville Health Foundation, 5001 Lakeshore Drive, Bonnyville, AB T9N 0G8.
