A warm "hello & update" from our island's RMT Collective!

Ana Aguayo Acosta joined our BIMT clinic in Artisan Square in September 2022.

Her integration has been seamless and an absolute pleasure for patients and colleagues alike. Alas, we updated her beautiful picture and extend our welcome.

Meet Ana!!

I’ve been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2015, and utilize a combination of treatment techniques from Swedish massage, deep tissue, fascial release, cranio-sacral therapy among others, to tailor a treatment for each patient. My priority is to create a safe therapeutic environment, from where patients can leave feeling deeply relaxed, inspired and equipped with the right tools for their bodies to heal.

I enjoy working with people in all stages of life. Whether you’re an athlete recovering from an injury, a mother preparing for childbirth, or a retiree seeking to enjoy gardening or playing golf without discomfort, helping individuals identify and successfully treat areas of pain or dysfunction is one of my greatest ( biggest) passions.

I’m currently pursuing a Diploma as an Osteopathy Manual Practitioner. Osteopathy aims to restore function in the body by treating the root causes of pain and imbalances. My hope is to elevate the quality of patient care by deepening my understanding of the human body.

Prior to becoming an RMT I earned a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes in Mexico. I also practiced contemporary dance and performed in multiple festivals for over a decade.

Outside of work, I love practicing yoga, hiking in the forest with my dogs, and building sandcastles at the beach with my daughter during the summer.

Ana is currently working: Monday 9:30-2:30 --Tuesday 9:00 - 3:00--Wednesday 9:30-2:30--Thursday 9:30-2:30 and is welcoming new patients.

To our dear clients and Bowen community,

We extend to you all, our love and good wishes for health, resilience and strength as we collectively navigate these unprecedented times.

It's under our duty of care that effective this morning, Monday March 16th, we closed both our clinic locations until further notice. ( BIMT- and next door within the Bowen Island Wellness Centre #597 in Artisan Square.)
Our adjoining Gyrotonic Movement Studio is also closed until further notice.

Our closure is guided by recommendations from BC Health, World Health Organization, and the Canadian Government, and in accordance with our ethical responsibility to ensure the safety and health of our families, our clients, our community, and the public at large.

We'll be in touch with our clients booked through to the end of the month to discuss how best we can continue to support your healthcare needs.

We know that limitations, pains, injuries, post op. recoveries, and life stresses can be challenging at the best of times.
Ensuring we retain this conduit of connectivity matters, big time! Whether you simply need to * chat , * gain further insight into an injury or ailment, we are accessible by Phone, Email, FaceTime or Skype and can effectively provide some assessment , therapeutic recommendations on how best to navigate, coupled with a healthy dose of reassurance!
AND reach out if you’re needing any deliveries your way. Happy to do drop off’s, help with dog walk’s, or meet down at the shoreline on a log with healthy distancing measures.....
We are in these times together.

On Saturday July 21st, 2018, I will be joining friends, colleagues, and fellow islander’s as we plunge into the ocean water’s collectively inspired to “ raise a little help for our friends” ........ for Bowen Islander’s in cancer treatment.

We’ve all, at one time or another, had a loved one, or known someone indirectly enduring the depth of personal and familial challenges with a cancer diagnostic, and treatment itself.
A big dose of financial support will offer so much to so many In our community.

Alicia and Harmony recently completed some fantastic training in Biodynamic mobilization of the lumbo-sacral pelvic region, as well as female specific pelvic modalities! An amazing continuing education opportunity delving further into myofascial and visceral manipulation.

However, they are excited to both be with babies in bellies (for the second time!), and preparing to grow their families this summer! This means they will be putting a pause on their RMT careers at this time to focus on themselves and their young families.

A note of gratitude from them both:
"Thank you to our amazing community of Bowen for your patience and support as we step in and out of practice. We love and appreciate the relationships we've built, and look forward to continuing care upon our returns. We will miss you all!"

Co- launchIng the newly formed Bowen Birth Collective is an expression of there committment to accesiblle, diverse , and informative support for Bowen families. The gentle sound of rain on cedars and waves lapping up onto beautiful beaches here on Bowen Island has, on occasion, been drowned out by the sound of children laughing (and crying). That’s because. . .
